I hurt my knee should I use crutches, a cane, or a wheelchair?
20110512-M-KP294-079

Okay My knee cap poped out and and it is back in and I am in 7th grade so my classes are all over the place, and I can't reinjure it because I have track and softball that I am pretisipating in.Would my knee most likly heal best with a can wheelchair or crutches or should I try to walk it off???
I reinjured my knee so I am kinda worried

1) If you are kind of worried, consider seeing a doctor.
2) If you don't want to see a medical professional, and if "walking it off" seems a reasonable option to you, it probably isn't hurt badly. If you are concerned about it popping out again, get a knee brace with a patella (kneecap) hole to keep it in place.

Where can I find jeans for a child in a wheelchair that have a thin seam that won't cause pressure sores?
Day 162

I am having a horrible time finding a pair of jeans for my 10 year old son. We always wear nylon track pants or khaki pants but we really want to find him some jeans to wear. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas!

Where do they generate the sores at? Maybe the question is more of a proper seating issue, or a skin protection issue.

Another option is to buy over-sized jeans and tailor them for a good-looking fit while still being loose where the seams cause problems.

Or, slightly over-sized jeans with a liner sewn in

Or slightly over-sized jeans with a soft strip of material on the back of the seams

Or have someone cut the back of the jeans out and replace it with a softer, somewhat stretchy material. Our seamstress at work does this when needed- it is a lot of work, but works nicely.

would it be possible for a snowmobile track to work in the sand?
20110512-M-KP294-014

I want to try to build a beach wheelchair that is powered but I am struggeling to find ideas for the drive system.

yep it will work, just remember the snowmobile is cooled by the snow(if you are going to use the motor)

I have some new wheelchair tires that won't work with my chair. Is there a site where I can donate them?
20110512-M-KP294-092

These were really expensive and I can't get a refund. I'd be happy to sell them for a small amount or donate them to someone who really needs them. I hate to just throw these out and it doesn't look like it makes sense to list them on ebay. These are for an Omega Track made by Teftec. I'm sure there's someone out there who could use them.

I would donate them to the local Easter Seals charity in my area. They loan durable medical equipment to people who can't afford it. So they get these equipment donations from people, but they need parts for the equipment to repair some of them also. It really is a worthwhile charity!

For wheelchair users in place that snow ?

Do you put snow track on your wheelchair

No, but I do try to get new tires and batteries in October so that I have adequate power and traction in slush and ice. Good outdoor clothing is also a must.
