I live in Saskatchewan Canada, and I need to build a wheelchair ramp. The door is 40" off the ground. What is the ratio of rise to run? Do I need a permit if this is only temporary? Someone will be pushing the wheelchair up the ramp, so we can go with a steeper incline. from the front of the house to the sidewalk is 16'. ANY help will be greatly appreciated.
Believe it is the same in Canada & US but better check local regs for permits for temporary structures as well as requirements for ramp width, railings & "landing" size while your'e at it. Rule is 12' of run for every inch of rise so you are looking at a 40 foot + ramp.
To maintain the proper incline you will have to build the ramp with "switchbacks" like a mountain road with flat landings at each turn & at door entrance.
Need to check clear door opening & direction of swing as well.
Just a guess , but don't think you can get away with a steeper incline , pushed chair or not in Saskatchewan esp if snow & ice will be an issue.
Have seen ramps on temporary field office & classroom trailers
Maybe you can rent .
Thinking a scaffolding rental firm?

I'm a student at LBCC making a film about students who are physically disabled that are being forced to take special education classes, meant for the developmentally disabled.
Parents please let me know your struggles. Hope to use your story to support our point. The laws are right, the school districts are not. Please contact.
Just an observation. If the students are academically gifted and only physically disabled, would you not be interested in hearing from them?
It seems to me that you are presuming that a 'student with disabilities' regardless of their disability and/or age is incapable of successfully advocating for themselves. Please rethink such a patronizing approach.
I speak from the experiences of a person with a disability who, when in school, was enrolled in Special Education services and then entered Advanced Placement classes.
Because the AP classes were being taught in an area which was not being affected by my disabilities, I believed--and successfully proved that I could perform the AP class work.

I have a solar panel with the following specs:
Material: Monocrystalline
PM: 2w
Voc: 22.28 V
Isc: 0.15 A
Vmp: 18V
Imp: 0.14 A
Size: 14.9cm x 15.5cm
Gross weight: 0.3 kgs
Max system Voltage: 1000v
and I want to know if I can use that solar panel to charge a 7 amp, 12 volt electric wheelchir battery or if I have to buy another kind. It is for use on a blackout to charge my laptop, and stuff. I have a dc meter and input, but do I need an inverter? Thanks. I would appreciate it if anyone could answer any part of this question.
I'm not positive, but I think the other answerer might be a little off. You really should check either the manual if you have it (for your panel) or research it on the net and try to find it. It should say what to use it on, and what not to use it on. I can't answer your question either way just from my head knowledge, but i do know that voltage means little compared to amps. Amps is what will charge or overcharge a battery to a dangerous level. If I were you I would ask a reputable source and not an anybody's-guess website like this. You dont want to get hurt, that's for sure. Good luck.

How long is the wheelchair?
A simple question, no?
NO. Nothing is simple, it is all freaking uphill. Sometimes I just want to sit back and shake my head, but alas, I can’t.
It is time to order a new wheelchair. Sandro from National Seating comes over, he is a fantastic DME guy. I hear their guy in Anahiem is also great. Anyway, Sandro comes over, we pick all the specs for my daughter’s new chair (and no, I vetoed the nanny’s request of hot pink). The sticking part was … do I get a reclining back (in addition to the tilt-and-space) or the fixed back.
it is four inches, the chair with the reclining back will be four inches longer, and I say that is too much, let’s stick with the fixed back....News
