My porch is 26 inches high, I weigh 170 lbs, and the scooter probably weighs less than 200 lbs
ADA requirements are a slope of 1" rise for every 12" of run. This makes for a huge ramp, in your case 26 feet long. That mild slope will allow a person in a wheelchair to make it up the slope unassisted.
That being said, you may not need that much. Electric chairs and scooters will list the maximum slope they can handle for a given weight. Since this is personal property, you may not be required to adhear to ADA requirements. I built one here in CA to get into a trailer. We were able to use a 2 in 12 slope (which cuts the length in half). If you have the room, use the lower slope, but that just can't happen all the time.
There are other requirements that need to be followed as well. Guard rails are required, and landings if the ramp must turn corners in order to get the length requred.
As far as materials, concrete is always the best, but it can be made from wood (attaching the guard rail/ hand rail at the bottom is tricky).
A plywood insert for a Honda Mini-Van to hold an electric wheelchair scooter and ramp. The ramp is from Harbor Freight, small wheels and large ...
I live in a trailer park. The people across the way from me have 14 children. (Seriously!!!) They keep riding their scooters and skateboards up the wheelchair ramp in front of my house.
I understand that kids need to play. Trust me, they have a basketball hoop they play with (and fight over) at all hours of the day and night. I put up with it because, well, there's nothing I can do to stop it.
Well, I need my wheelchair ramp. (well, my mother does)
I'm afraid they'll get hurt and I'll be sued.
I tried talking to the parents.
They pulled the "No habla ingles" card.
Nevermind that I can HEAR them speaking English and laughing as I leave.
The manager just shrugs, they don't speak English after all!
So, ideas please?
I tell the kids to get off the ramp when I catch them, but I work, and they can be hurt at any time.
well im 16 and i used to love to skate board....
one of the things u can actally do is get some rocks and scatter them or fix your ramp to where there are little indetations to where they cant use it any more.
go to this link... this is what im actually trying to explain. lol i
hope i helped...

We have rented an apartment for 1 year..My husband is disabled and finally got his scooter to get around as it's summer and he's been in the house since his accident 3 years ago...except to go to doctors or physio or appointments..which he has to take a taxi to as he can't walk so good..the landlord came today as is taking the ramp down and evicting us.What can we do...?The landlord blocked my car in,in the driveway as she made phone calls to people on her cell phone and she was bashing us to whoever she was on the cell phone with, then she got her son to come over and he kicked the ramp apart at the bottom now it's no good..and we cant get out that way...we feel trapped in here and have shut all curtains and doors in the daytime as she has threatened her son against us before as he has a black belt.We are both disabled and don't know where to turn..we are getting a T2 and a discrimination against her but she is very violent and her husband is worse...
no,we did not stop paying rent,we paid rent here for a year...10,000 dollars. They are mad we put the ramp in,even though we asked them 4 weeks ago to put one in and they said sure.Discrimination is all we seem to get from people like that last guy said "let me guess, you didn't pay rent'that was uncalled for as you don't know us and yes we pay our rent..
I would file a police report and request a restraining order against her son and the landlord as they have made threats against you. See what other options they can offer to you to protect you.
What would the reason for eviction be? What did they tell you the reason is? They have to have some kind of grounds to evict you on. Contact the building owners and let them know what is going on. Let them know you are pursuing legal action against their employees for what they have done. I don't know that you can put up a ramp on the property without permission from the building owners, but that is not grounds for eviction.
Contact your local social services department to find out what kind of aid may be available to you both in regards to illegal activies. (Like taking down the wheelchair ramp) They may be able to direct you to groups who could help you in this area.
Maybe contact one of the consumer advocates from the NBC, CBS or ABC station in your area and tell them what is going on. Put some pressure on them through media if you can get your case going on tv or in the local papers.
I think your best bet is to start looking elsewhere to live. Even with these things in mind those people will still be there at the building, and you have no chance at a peaceful life with both of them breathing down your neck.
