What is the requirements for a housing copmlex to have to allow someone in a wheelchair to reach the upper lev

You don'y say whether the disabled person is a visitor or a tenant; whether it is a government owned complex or in what state it is located. It makes a difference.

Under the federal fair housing act a provider of housing must make reasonable accommodations for disabled occupants -- not visitors. It may include minor structural changes like adding ramps or widening doors -- at the tenant's expense. This expressly does not include adding lifts or elevators or detailing personnell to get them up the stairs. It MAY involve re-locating them to a lower floor if something is available.

Individual state laws may add requirements, especially for government owned projects.

wheelchair requirement at disneyland?

What are the requirements to get a wheelchair at disneyland? My friend has scoliosis and said that was valid rewason for a wheelchair, but she doesn't have a doctors note or anything.
Can we still get a wheel chair and skip the lines and stuff there?

Absolutely, anyone can, there is a small fee but there should not be a problem. Thank your friend bc now you will be able to get in the front on most rides

I need to find a builder who can build an extension. However this is a building for someone in a wheelchair,?

How can I locate builders who specialise in building for special needs requirements such as people in wheelchairs? I live in Limerick Ireland.

You could just call each one and ask them.

You could talk to an architect and ask if they have experience with disability access. The architect will probaly advise you to design for access and the builder will build what you design.

I doubt you'll find a builder that "specializes" in that, but they will build what you ask for.

EDIT.............Dimensions - Doors should have a minimum clear opening width of 800mm (830mm is preferred) for a wheelchair. Where double doors are used at least one door should be a minimum of 800mm wide.

what are the rules about using the foot rests on a wheelchair pushed by a carer?

I work in a variety of care homes for the older person. Some always use footrests others not. I did think that it was a legal requirement to use them or a client needed to sign a disclaimer. Can someone advise. Ta

Not aware of any rules, apart from the generic duty of care. I'd say always use them, for the comfort, safety & security of the occupant - you don't want them to catch their foot in something, do you?

  • Buy Cheap

  • Six Considerations Before Buying an Electric Wheelchair

Electric powered wheelchairs are rapidly replacing manual wheelchairs due to the simplicity of operation, convenience, and advances in construction. As far as personal mobility options go, however, electric powered wheelchairs can be quite expensive; making the assessment of needs and other considerations a critical step in the process of buying a Easy Lift Chair .

    * The Budget – Of the personal mobility options, electric powered wheelchairs are the most expensive, ranging in price from $5,000 to $30,000. Narrowing add-ons to only those that are daily life necessities can keep costs in check and provide a better chance at getting at least some of the costs covered by a health insurance provider.
