I need info on electric wheelchair repair and operation?
Perhaps Russell Crowe Can Help

I have a friend who broke his back and needs his wheelchair repaired, I'm pretty good at electrical and electronic repair and have worked on medical equipt. before. I understand motors and operation but am a little weak on controls but I am a quick study.

More info is needed. What type of control system does the chair use, a modern or older chair for example. The electronic circuitry is fairly straight forward, but without more information little can be done. If you can locate my email on this site, write me and I'll try to help. I have 36 years experience in electronic control systems.

I am in Paris and my friend's wheelchair hub broke tonight. Having a hard time finding a repair shop...?
Mensah, the shoe repairer

I am in Paris and my friend's wheelchair hub broke tonight. It cracked in two places where the spokes go. Having a hard time finding a repair shop, wheelchair store or rental place. Love Yahoo Answers so I thought I'd throw it out there.

It is a TI Sport wheelchair with Spinergy hubs and wheels. Have checked their company websites but no dealers in Paris that I could find. Thanks!

Best bet would be to go in a Chemist (pharmacie), easily recognisable with their glowing green cross, and ask them.
Second bet would be to go to the big chemist at Gare St Lazare (exit Cour de Rome, right across the street when you come out), I bought my crutches there and seem to remember them having wheelchairs.

I rebuild and repair wheelchairs for anyone who needs one,?

I want to know if anyone has an old wheelchair or walker that they wish to donate to a good cause, not someone who will re-sell it I give them away free, once they have been repaired or rebuilt, I have never charged for this and never will, I just want to know if there are any chairs out there that are just taking up space and in the way, Would you give them to me to give to someone who could really use it? I tahnk you all for your time and efforts, Stephan K.
I live in Anna, Texas, And I do repair and rebuild wheelchairs for people without insurance who cannot aford to buy on on their own, I have been doing so for the last two years and I have never sold anything that has been donated and I never will, I am doing this because rather than sitting in my own wheelchair and having a pitty party for myself I have decided to give back to the community of DFW and as many of the surrounding cities as possible, I have never taken one red cent, most of the parts I have bought myself at thrift stores and Yard sales, I have been blessed with two good hands ans a brain, just because my legs do not work doesn't mean my world has ended, so I ask again, do you have any mobility aid taking up space in a closet, garage or attic, storage shed, outside in the yard, it doesn't matter what shape they are in I can use the parts, and this year I am starting a Non-Profit Organization, dedicated to just what I am doing now. any questions?

Sounds great but how do I know it's legit? I have two but will probably donate them myself so I know that they will go to who needs them.

Here's a good one: http://www.wheelchairjunkie.com

The forums are not exclusively for repairs, but there are many powerchair users on there.

  • wheelchair parts – simple do-it-yourself wheelchair repair

A well-functioning wheelchair is a necessity in the life, mobility, and safety of the user. Insuring that your wheelchair continues to function at peak performance requires regular maintenance, periodic adjustments, and occasional repairs. It is also important to have a familiarity with the various wheelchair parts on your chair, and their function. This article will explore some simple "do-it-yourself" repairs that you can make, and some tips and suggestions for how to do them.

To start, it is important to know your chair. Whether you have a manual or power chair, when you first buy your chair, take the time to become familiar with all aspects of your chair. Know how everything functions, and what each of the wheelchair parts do. Learning all about your new wheelchair will help you notice when changes occur, so that you can easily spot them.
