Wheelchair Pillow

I have recently broken my leg and am now in a full leg plaster cast but i need to get a wheelchair that allows me to keep it elevated all the time or i can't go out anywhere. The cast is very thick plaster and i need a couple of pillows to support it aswell. Where can i find a cheapish wheelchair that can hold this. Also i live in the UK so sites from the UK would be much appreciated :)

NHS cut back that much that they would leave a Patient with a full leg cast out of Hospital on what crutches? Many of my friends who are in full leg casts were given wheelchairs as they had to be supplied by the Hospital, that is what the NHS is all about. If they cannot give you a suitable wheelchair, then you stay in Hospital and I cannot see that.

If you are doing a formal portrait of someone confined to a wheelchair and that person requires the support of a head rest as well as a small pillow to keep their head propped up to the proper position, what material do you think would be best to cover the whellchair and not look morbid or like a sheet? Any experiences?

What I did in my studio was to have people lift the individual up and quickly put black velvet over the entire chair then sit them back down. You can try muslin type backdrops but I always preferred the velvet. If their head will not stay stright uo you will have to stand on a ladder to shoot. Vinetting also helps a great deal.

CP- Cerebral Palsy. She is 31.(medcaid will not pay for a custom chair after the age of 21.) i've asked the salvation army, Good Samaratin found., Catholic Charities org., L.I.F.E., the UCP foundation, all have said they don't have the funds to help. the chair she got as a teenager (m-caid paid for-when she was a teen-) she has outgrown, and it has rusted, and is falling apart, her mom has to use pillows and ties to position and secure her, it is very unsafe.

those are good thoughts, but pt has medicaid, it doesn't pay any for custom chairs after the age of 21. and she can't get medicare, she never worked; so we've been told.

Medicare won't help either?

Hi, I am looking for donations for a very special group of children who live in vietnam. They live in a home for abadoned and disabled children. There are 16 children with 8 nuns caring for them. The children spend most of the day on the hard floor or in a crib and share a few outfits, one baby bottle and 2 wheelchairs that most of them cannot sit up in. I am looking to send them used clothing (any sizes will help), bottles, sippy cups, diapers, blankets, towels, washcloths, bibs, pillows, toys, and also any type of special equipment for disabled children....wheelchairs, seats, gait trainers, standers....anything will help these children. They also take donations at the website. If anyone can donate any type of supplies, I will take them! I'm going to be flying with US Airways tomorrow and I was wondering what the limit for carry-on luggage is and if there is an extra charge for suitcase.

I have a medium sized suitcase that family has taken as a carry-on(it looks big but it been done before) and a backpack.

also is there a charge for food and bevs?
pillows..idk..

o and is there a way to request a wheelchair transportation and a guide last minute for when I have to switch planes?

I don't know, but I hear they're going to start charging extra for swimming lessons.
