Where can I find a working VSI controller (joystick) for a Jazzy 1113 ATF electric wheelchair?
Ceapat

Elderly mother has accidentally frayed the wires leading to the VSI controller on her electric wheelchair (Jazzy ATF) and I am looking for that vsi controller joystick. Would prefer to get one used but also would like to find a place that sells new ones....need one in good working condition. OR would like to find someone who can fix it at a reasonable cost. OR someone who donates electric wheelchairs.

Try e-bay or craigslist.

i turn my electric wheelchair on and move the joystick but the light just flashes and it doesn't move?
Ceapat

i have checked the motor connections...
i have already checked the battery and motor connections

- Is it tilted back? Many chairs do not run if tilted.

- Is one of the motor releases or clutches tripped at least some? If the lever or mechanism is partially engaged, the chair will not work.

- Are the batteries charged and holding charges well?

- Connections OK?- Joystick to wire, wire to control box, control box to motors?

- Any chance anything got wet, frozen, or too hot?

You can also call most chair vendors and tell them what the display on the joystick is showing- there is often a code there they can use to diagnose it.

How can a make or purchase a joystick contoller to controll another joystick controller?
Passeata SuperAção 2008

I have electric wheelchair. A hooveround. I move around by moving the joystick on arm of the chair. There are time where it would usefull to control the chair while I'm not in it. For example when I go to bed the chair is right next to the bed. I would rather move it into a corner. So I would need a unit of servos etc that I could place over the existing joystick and have a RC controller joystick that as I moved it would mimic my left right top bottom actions. I hope this makes sense. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

It is a very interesting idea. If you are good at electronics, I may be able use the motors from a RC car.

  • New tongue sensor drives wheelchair; no joystick required - Disaboom

I love my tongue. The tongue is a pretty awesome muscle, especially for people with neurological impairments. Since it’s not connected to the spinal cord (it‘s nerves are connected directly to the brain, just like an octopus‘ tentacles or an elephant‘s trunk), conditions like Parkinson’s, spinal cord injuries, MS, etc, usually don’t affect it’s ability to function (at least not right away, if you‘re talking about progressive diseases). And researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology agree. Looking for new ways to help people who can’t use their arms or legs to operate a wheelchair, they developed a tiny magnet sensor (the size of a lentil, which they glue onto your tongue using edible glue!) that allows the user to drive his or her wheelchair by touching their tongue to their back left molar to turn left, the right molar to turn right, you get the idea. There have been mouth-operated powerchairs for years now (think Sip ‘n Puff ), but incorporating the tongue is a new idea. If I had to use technology such as this, this tongue sensor would really be exciting to me. It’s inconspicuous, which I like. Heck, I’d even use the technology with the way I am now. No more joystick? Having my right/main hand free to hold coffee as I drive down the city sidewalk? That would be amazing! Tongue control devices aren't new - Jenni Taylor (of The Site that Breathes) has used one for years to run her wheelchair, and there are various optional extras which allow it to be used to control other things. The tongue is often affected by brain-stem injuries, such as those which produce "locked-in syndrome", but not by even C1 SCIs.
