My daughter is 16 and has Cerebral Palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. I was wondering if there's an insurance to cover her in case she accidentally runs over a students foot and causes injury.
Yes. Your homeowners policy, has built in liability. It includes liability for your household members, who are using assistance devices.
Check with your agent, or read the fine print on your policy, but it's built into the standard homeowners policy.
Or renter's policy, if you don't own your home.
i payed for health insurance from assurant health and they i got in a accident and ended up paralyzed. all they do is raise my premium from 780 ...
I have son. He needs a new wheelchair. The insurance covered some of it but there is still $2142 for me to pay. I am the only person that works. If anybody could help me I would appreciate it.
Check into the Disabled Children's Relief Fund. They accept grant applications between April and September. http://www.dcrf.com
There is also the Queen of Hearts Foundation and you can review their information at http://www.queenofheartsfoundation.org
There are other foundations that grant money or assistance depending on where you live and your son's particular disability. Best wishes to your family.

I'm going to give the Yahoo Community the opportunity to choose for me - both of you have good points. Thx again!
I once was able to obtain a term insurance quote for a fellow who had a heart transplant three years earlier. Although the insurance company was willing to offer a quote, the premium cost were so high, the client elected not to buy the insurance. It is function of the insurance company's perception of risk.
My point?
I am sorry for you difficulties. If you work with a good life insurance broker, you might be able to find some company to offer life insurance on your husband, but the cost (I fear) will be too high for you to afford.

I have a disease in my back and legs mainly. I can walk, but not for long. If I go to the mall I cannot walk it for more than 30-45 minutes. That's if I stop to sit on the bench every couple stores. I have a hard time going to amusement parks. I'm not even 25. I was diagnosed with arthritis at 9 and something else at 15. I'd tell you what it is, but I cannot spell it and I'm sure nobody's ever heard of it. Since I had my son last July, I keep getting worse. I feel like I'm ruining my family's time everywhere we go because I cannot walk. Wheelchairs are not cheap. Would my insurance pay for me to get a wheelchair for places like the mall and such outside my home? Or would I have to actually be paralyzed?
Check the benefits of your health insurance policy. Many will pay for someone in your situation, but some might not. It depends upon your plan. Some plans are somewhat generous and some are difficult to deal with. You would have to have your doctor submit supporting information explaining why you need it. Without the documentation from your physician, it won't be paid for. With the documentation, it might be depending upon your insurance.
No. In the fine print of your insurance there are restrictions on what you can take advantage of. You are not supposed to make a profit off their benefits..

Has anyone else received their open enrollment information in the mail and noticed it has gone up and covers alot less? I know it is different by state, we used to have the value plan with a $500 credit, now the most you can get is $250. $500 worked perfect for me, this now is going to limit me to 2 Dr. visits before i have to pay out of pocket. Thought things would get better, guess i was mistaken....Again. I was actually told up front that it would not cover doctor visits, so it seems like they pick and choose what to tell some people. I was told I'd only get a few trips to a place like Quick Care out of it (not sure if that is only a local place or what...but you can probably get the idea)....
