Wheelchair Hire

This, almost certainly, will have to be the type that is steered by a helper at the back but is battery powered - the wheelchair user has impaired vision and the helper is not fit enough to push it up the hills in Lourdes unaided. Any ideas, especially websites or email addresses for anyone hiring such wheelchairs would be greatly appreciated.

Best is to contact the Lourdes site itself. They have a whole system to greet and help pilgrims, I'm sure you're not the first one to ask that question. Click on contact, you have telephone and email. I heard you could also have helpers to push the wheelchairs for you.

When I booked the private hire car for my mum I was assured there was a way to clamp the wheelchair down and a seat belt for her. When the time came the taxi picked her up got her and the wheelchair in the car but did not clamp it down or offer a seat belt, causing her to feel very unsafe. Is it against the law in the UK to carry a disabled passenger in her wheelchair without clamping it down and offering a seat belt if it was fitted in the car?

By law and its not just your local council, its e.u. but your local council has to enforce the law. When a wheel chair is placed into a wheelchair friendly or private hire, which incidentally have stricter rules now as new legislation is in. They must be clamped to the floor to stop movement and a safety belt put across the passenger. If the job isnt done right report it, you wont be named. They don't reduce the cost when things go wrong. You must be more daring, You can approach a cabbie and say Im worried about my Mum not being secured. what happens (god forbid) in an accident. Don't think the office would know. Cabbies have to be squeaky clean now and if they dont do there job they are hauled over the coals.

We live in Edinburgh and we are planning our next holiday next year and i would like know of a web address or website where we can hire a wheelchair I tried to look at Kincaid online but I was unable to view their website. Anywhere in Edinburgh or Glasgow would be helpful thanks.
EDIT I am looking to rent a wheelchair or wheelchair for 14 days

Try Shop Mobility in Edinburgh. It's run by the council and can provide free hire although there may be limitations. The Council number is 0131 200 2000.

My aged mother is coming on holiday with us to Goa, Margoa area, and has difficulty walking. Does anyone know where I can hire or otherwise get hold of a wheelchair that I can push her around in. Not a motorised one.

Can someone help with information in where wheelchairs are available on hire....we are looking for one of those folding wheelchairs that airlines use.

I'd suggest you buy one. Will be cheaper in the long run.

Try Medical shops near AIIMS / Safdarjung. May be Yusuf Sarai. BL Traders is one.
Or Daryagunj.
