Wheelchair Head Support

My elderly, invalid mother spends her waking hours in a manual wheelchair. (A basic model -- just a low canvas-like back to the thing.) I use the term "waking" liberally -- she sleeps very irregularly all through the day and night, and frequently dozes off in her chair. When she does, her head tends to loll back, and she often wakes from these "catnaps" with a stiff neck.

Does anyone make some sort of attachment that can be added on to such a chair when needed? One that would provide head and neck support when she dozes? I imagine it would have to be something that would attach to the metal supports/frame on either side of the canvas back. I can picture such a device in my mind, but home-brewing one is out of the question as I am not mechanically inclined. (I barely know which end of a screwdriver to use...) Anyone ever see such an animal at a medical supply place? I've researched the Net and made a few calls and no one seems to understand what I want. Thanks!

If you are doing a formal portrait of someone confined to a wheelchair and that person requires the support of a head rest as well as a small pillow to keep their head propped up to the proper position, what material do you think would be best to cover the whellchair and not look morbid or like a sheet? Any experiences?

What I did in my studio was to have people lift the individual up and quickly put black velvet over the entire chair then sit them back down. You can try muslin type backdrops but I always preferred the velvet. If their head will not stay stright uo you will have to stand on a ladder to shoot. Vinetting also helps a great deal.

I want to give full time but I have to support my family. Are there any individuals out there that are paid to do charitable acts as a career? I am sure that wealthy philanthropist wants to see how they’re charitable donations were spent, so I had a crazy idea that I can't get out of my head. What if a the philanthropist or donating organization paid me and a cameraman a salary to go find someone in need of help everyday. Someone who my be begging on the street or someone I met while volunteering at the soup kitchen or even a single mother having trouble feeding her kids everyday. The key would be documenting the process of helping others and the benefactor would get a weekly or monthly video of our daily work. Cash handouts may not be spent on the items or services the person needs most so we would pay the doctor bill or pay for a new wheelchair or pay for daycare so a single mother could look for employment. Do you think this concept is realistic?

The closest thing to what you are looking for would be a Social Worker.

i went to the west tn fair last night and they had display of a headless woman her name robin marks now she had a medical life support and she moves only her heads my point is she real i even looked it up on computer is she real

Ok so my mom was going out with a police officer named John Hege.
He was involved in the shooting where 3 other officers died in Oakland california.In the computer news it said ''fourth oakland police officer dies.'' That hit me hard.I thought he would just be in a wheelchair cuz he got shot in the head.I really cared about him even though i didnt really see him that often.I remember about a couple of weeks ago we went out to have dinner with him at pasta pamedoro D;
He was a great guy to me and my mom.Im really gonna miss him.
Should i talk to a counselor at school cos i also just found out my friend has cancer,and i have to get a restraining order from my dad soon :/ im really stressed.

I'm really, really sorry to hear this. This event was very tragic and sad. I strongly suggest that you do talk with a school counselor. Sounds like you have challenges you are facing and talking with someone will help you very much. All the best to you.
