Such as when taking a patient back to their room after an x-ray? We are being told that we can not wear clean gloves to push a wheelchair or stretcher, even if the patient is considered contact. Where can I find evidence that supports your answer? I am aware of HIPPA, but it shouldn't matter if gloves are worn with every patient.
Maybe you can find an answer on JCAHO's website, or report a complaint: http://www.jointcommission.org/

I had to use a wheelchair for awhile after a severe leg injury which developed into cellulitis several years ago, and gloves are worn to keep the palms of the hands from getting blisters.
Your palms will get really sore very quickly while trying to push the wheels foreward.
I have a bf that is in a wheelchair and his poor hands get rough and cold. I would like to find him a very nice pair of gloves that would be rugged, breathable, fingerless, weather resistant. I need to something very high quality this is a birthday present.
I also don't like them. They interfere with my grip and precision of control - particularly when maneuvering at high speed.
In wet conditions gloves make braking very difficult - even dangerous.
However I know that people with weakened grip (quadriplegics) often have gloves with a rubber grip area - they don't have the high speed precision requirement that people like I have.
Price: $14.99

Wrap-around thumb protection cushions and covers the inside of the thumb with a second layer of leather to protect against abrasion

I bought these gloves from Old Navy a month ago to replace a very loved pair that I lost a few years ago. I use them under a pair of bicycle gloves when I have to push in my wheelchair outside. Somehow both pairs got dirty. I cleaned the bike gloves okay but can't remove all the dirt from the fleece pair.
try soaking with woolite first, then give another good wash cycle.
i use a walker around my home to build my strength for when i get my prosthetic leg. i use the walker when i am not in my wheelchair, but i am getting coleuses on my hands which crack and bleed, i don't like wearing gloves, are there any other ways i can avoid getting the coluses on my hands.

Why Wheelchair Users Should Use Wheelchair Gloves
Are you a wheelchair user and do you use wheelchair gloves to move you around? If you are not used to wearing gloves whenever your maneuver your wheelchair, then, it is high time that you consider using one.
People in wheelchairs are best advised to use gloves whenever they use their wheelchairs. Hands of wheelchair users are the most abused part of their bodies. Their hands act as the steering wheel and the brakes of their \”transportation\”. The hands are the ones used in starting the wheelchairs. They are also used for stopping their wheelchairs as well as turning it. People in wheelchairs even call their hands their feet because it functions the way their feet functions if they could only walk.
