I need a definition for wheelchair van and a conversion van. Im doing an study about vans. Can anyone help?

A conversion van is a passanger van that has been customised with accessories such as a bed, tv, table and chairs (like a small motor hoome)

A wheelchair van is a van that has been customised with a wheelchair lift, ramps and the seats removed for the ease of a disabled person to enter through the side door and the floor has been reinforced to support the weight of the accessories

I have drum brakes on it and I am in wheelchair and have to have power brakes. I don't want to take the drums off just convert them. Tks

The power drum brakes really don,t work all that well...I had power drums on my car and went to disc...Power disc is the only way to go...I bought my disc brake conversion for my 67 gtx off of ebay...It was about 800.00 bucks...You need to pick up a copy of Mopar Muscle magizine...They have 4 or 5 companys that offer conversions...A good company that will have what you need is Street Rod Manufactering...Their web address is www.tsmmfg.com.Their phone number is 303-688-6882.The have a large secltion of conversions...They even have one for your 8 3/4 rearend....

i saw a lady in a manual wheelchair with a conversion kit which made her wheelchair motorized, you can see the wheelchair is a manual because it has the manual wheels and then you see the additional equipment to make it motorized.

i did not think to stop her to ask her, but since then i have wanted to do that to my manual chair......

could anyone help, please give me web sites if you know them

These kits used to be pretty common, but everyone I know who made them has since gone out of business.

Personally, other than the Wheelchairs of Iowa (Sheldon, Iowa) version, I thought the rest of them were rather a waste of time and money- poor power, low speeds, interfered with manual use, etc.

I want to convert a manual wheel chair into a motorized one because it could be s cheaper than buying one.Does anyone else think so?If so, do u know where I can buy the conversion kit.I live in USA, but the kit is meant for someone overseas

I toy with wheelchair motors and controllers in my robotic hobby.
The parts are cheap enough because there is an abundance of them.What happens is the insurance company [usually Medicare] will buy the power chair for someone who may never even use it. Then the person dies and the heirs want to sell it but can't get much for it because anyone that wants one will also go through insurance.So,that leaves a supply of new units for sale cheap on Ebay. That's probably the best way to get a power chair,at least if you can wait for one nearby to avoid shipping charges.
