Wheelchair Batteries

I am trying to build a segway, and i have a motor and motor driver from an old wheelchair. i am looking for some batteries for this

The first thing you need to figure out is all of your design issues first, what types of batteries were you looking at? The old standard for making these little vehicles was lead acid but lead acid cells suck, there are now Ni-Mh batteries that can perform the same job. Your next big hump is designing a charger and tha actual gearing system. Best of luck, I am currently working on a similar project.

the extended speaker is electric and i have to wire it in my wheelchair batteries, in other words I want to hear my surrounding without the headphones in my ears all the time

Most power wheelchairs work on 2 12vdc deep-cycle batteries, and often have a 'tap' so you can hook up accessories.

The thing to remember is that cars recharge the batteries in use, You will be draining the batteries when you listen- so you will be sacrificing range of mobility for music when you could do the music part with a few rechargeable D's or something.

If you have a headrest, you can rig a pair of small powered speakers (like computer speakers) on the headrest to help create a 'bubble' of sound for your pleasure, all powered off a few cheap batteries. A rig like this would cost a lot less as well.

I want to go about a mile and the temp has reached 6 degree and still climbing. Is there a certain degree that wheelchair batteries should not be taken out in?

yes too much low or high Temperature if pertains for long time damages batteries.

Try themasker of the chair first ...then find a battery shop.. these shop have batteries for most any thing or can get one.. last resort try a dealer that sells your chair asnd see if they can get you one

The batteries in the chair are dead and my wife comes home from hospital tom'w. No time to get ones made for power wheelchairs.

A car battery will work for a while but a marine deep cycle battery would last longer.
