Need wheelchair accessible bus transportation to get to and from work
I'm sure that most of the bus routes in Westchester County are wheelchair accessible. I know that the #5 bus goes to White Plains, however I don't know what bus to transfer to (the Bee Line Bus map is notoriously hard to read). I believe you can transfer to the #60 bus as it runs close to the Court House. If that is too circuitous for you, contact Bee Line Para-Transit. They have wheelchair accessible buses that will take you curb-to-curb straight to the Court House and back home whenever you need to go. It's a shared ride program, so you might not get the bus all to yourself, but you can schedule rides in advance to fit your schedule.
Below in sources are the links to the Bee Line Para-Transit and application sites, respectively. Here's the address to call or write for more info:

I don’t know if the tour busses in Colon are wheelchair accessible or not, but I do know I have seen the generosity of the Panamanian people toward physically challenged/handicapped individuals. You will have no problem finding assistance with loading and unloading a person in a wheelchair from a bus or taxi. It’s not unusual to see a small group of pedestrian men helping to ease a wheelchair of curbside. I’ve been living here a year now and am confident you will find the people generous.

Is there a provision in the ADA that requires all mass transit fixed-route buses that operate within a city's geographical limits (i.e. NOT Greyhound or Trailways buses) to be wheelchair-accessible by a certain year? If so, what is the year that all mass transit buses are required to be wheelchair-accessible?
I thought that ADA required that all fixed route buses already be accessible. If there was a certain year, I think it has already passed. I really don't know of a system that has non-accessible buses.
The new problem is accessible bus stops and accessible paths of travel to the bus stops. This is often a problem b/c the sidewalks are the responsibility of the local jurisdictions.
Im having a party and I want to take a limo but one of my friends is in a wheelchair and I wanted to know if there was a such thing as wheelchair accessible limos or small party buses (that can carry up to around 20 people) and if there are any of these in or around toronto. I've done tones of research but the only things that seem to be wheelchair accessible are the huge coach buses for 55 people and I wont have many people there.
You can actually get a party bus instead of coaches. party buses are perfect for small parties like yours. i actually found 2 party buses that you might be interested in. the ford E550 and the ford party bus which is good for 20 people. it has huge doors for your friend in a wheelchair and it is big and comfortable inside. im sure you can request for a ramp from the limo company. Check out the pictures for yourself - http://www.limoquoter.com/directory/car/ 11/
also, you can have different companies in your area quote your limo needs for free. less hassle. goodluck!
I'm disabled,a kidney dialysis patient, multiple sclerosis,& many more disabilities, using a manual wheelchair. My bus, three blocks from my front door is not wheelchair accessible.Yet you and i continue to pay taxes to & for upkeep of public transport lines. Over 20 blocks it is not accessible. I am right in those 20 blocks. I have written, called, asked, waited over 15 years. Before I die, remember I am on life support system, perhaps my city,my public transportation line will respond of why a citified funded transportation line, funded by city, state and federal monies, yours, mine, is not ADA complicit? Should I keep quiet and wait in the shadows of time,or keep kick-ing,& ask for help,i mean from the American public, help make awareness for peoples with disabilities, really for all our lives. Public transportation states it is for public,i guess that means me?But i should have right to travel freely at will anytime day-night.We don't need faster buses, we need to get on any bus always.
The first answer while long winded is completely inaccurate. The transportation authority must follow the ADA requirements. Get a lawyer and sue the bus line. If people or government do not follow the law you must take legal action to rectify the situation. You will be doing a service for yourself and others in your community.
Aberdeenshire Council - News Release: Westhill A2B dial-a-bus ...
Westhill A2B dial-a-bus service hours extended 12th October 2009
Later this year the operating hours for the Westhill A2B dial-a-bus service will be extended by one hour.
From Monday, November 2, the current service hours will change from 9am to 4pm on Mondays to Fridays to 9am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays.
The current five day service has proved popular with local residents, and the move follows requests to extend the hours of the service by members of the public, who use A2B on a regular basis.
Councillor Peter Argyle, Chairman of the council’s Infrastructure Services Committee, said: “We want this service to be the best it possibly can, and to do this we will need to continuously review the service and adapt to the needs of our passengers.
