Is it against the law to block a wheelchair access ramp?

I go to a working mens club and there is only one wheelchair ramp which is in the smoking area. Recently there has been doging the door man to go through this area to gain access to the club so what the club has done is put up iron gates and according to them it has been passed by the local council afforitites, even through its blocking a disability ramp, so if someone in a wheelchair wanted to attend it would be inpossible for them to gain access to the premises. I'm not disabled thank goodness and when i bring this up to other members they don't want know, but that isn't the point anyone can become disabiled in a wheelchair then the see things differently. I tought the disability Act 2005 covered this, what do you think guys, or is this club trying to tell lies, because no letters have been put on the wall for members to see, that it has been passed.

They can't be expected to employ 2 door men and have 1 of them standing around all night. You can't walk up the stairs though, so you should have access to a ramp (especially since it is already built). Perhaps you can wait in line and the doorman can go and let you in when it's your turn if the beginning of the line is reasonably close to the other entrance. If it isn't possible, you might ask if you can call ahead and then call while you are waiting.

A ramp is constructed so that a wheelchair can access a level that is 6 ft above the ground floor. The ramp..?

..forms a right triangle. The height of the ramp is 6 feet, the base of the ramp is 8 feet long. How many feet long is the top of the ramp?

Its ten feet, but that is way too steep for a wheelchair and will not pass building codes.

Wheelchair Access Ramps: are we just playing into the hands of a Dalek invasion?

Look closely under the ramps. They are by law, all fitted with a Semtex charge. Should we be invaded by Daleks, at the touch of a button, all ramps will be exterminated by those chaps from Last of the Summer Wine. No worries.

Can you get sued for blocking in a car that needs a Wheelchair acess ramp?

I'm a little worried for my Grandad, as he told me

On sunsday he went to a market where people were employed to direct the cars where to go in the car park.
The cars were all parked in lines together and he was told just to park next in line.

When he got back to his car, there was a man in a wheelchair waiting very angrily next to my Grandads car and as my Grandad approached his car the man (in about his 20's) asked him if it was his car? and my Grandad obv. said yes, then this man stated shouting abuse at him telling him he didn't leave any room for his wheelchair access ramp. But like swaering and shouting at my Grandad.
The man told my Grandad that he has taken down his plate no. and stuff and he will be trying to sue my grandad or get him penalised for it.
Because he had a sticker on his window saying 'please leave room for wheelchair access ramp' But my Grandad didn't see this.

Could my Grandad get into trouble for this ? Could he get sued or Penalised like the man said ?

Thanks or all the help
xx
Edit*
It wasn't a store, it was a field for a market, there were no diabled parking spots or lines or anything.
Edit*
SJ2009 - I f he had seen the sticker in the window of course he would have not parked there. He did not do this to spite the man !
I have a brother in a wheel chair and i know how hard it can be for him to get in and out of cars, so in no way was this done intentionally.

To answer your question, can he be sued, YES, he can be sued just as anyone can be sued for any reason. Can he be found liable? Can he be penalized by the police? That all depends.

In most parking lots, areas reserved for handicapped access is clearly marked. Most of the times, it has signs and blue lines. If he used these spots or somehow crossed the line into blue areas, it is punishable by law.

However, if he didn't cross the line but somehow the man thought your grand-pa blocked him in some way, well... that's his problem. He isn't guaranteed any special rights or considerations beyond what the federal and state law says. He can ask, and most of the times his condition is understood and honored, but that's different from demanding and penalizing others.

As long as the store was following federal guidelines for these spaces, there is nothing he can do.

-Edit-

I see it wasn't a store, but it still is a private property. If the man feels the owner (of the property) didn't adequately meet Federal requirements, he can take it up with the management of the Flea Market.

As to your grand-pa not seeing his sticker, unless your state has some type of special sticker, then it's just his sticker. It has no more power than "baby on board" sign on cars. Your grandpa has no legal requirement to see it or follow it. At the same time, the man has no right to demand anyone follow it, outside of asking for courtesy for his conditions.

Don't worry about it too much. The man can make some nasty calls and make waves, but your grandpa didn't break any laws. He simply failed to see the sticker (which he wasn't required to see in the first place).

I can see it can be frustrating to not have full mobility and be blocked from leaving the place, but the man was out of line. He also doesn't have any rights in demanding anyone follow his instructions. What he should have done is park in handicapped spot. The attendant would have been happy to guide him to a special spot, should he took responsibility in parking his van at the designated spot.
