Vehicle Wheelchair

I need to buy my stepson a vehicle in Oklahoma to drive and he's in a wheelchair. I'm wondering if the state of OK provides any grants or assistance in purchasing this type of vehicle?

Probably not, but some of the car makers do. Any local place that sells handicap accessible vans can help with this.

It depends on the type of vehicle and the type of lift to be installed. Some of them are quite a project that requires removing a large section of floor and things that get time consuming. Check with the installers that you are considering it will vary again by their experience and how back logged or busy they are.

I say he is considered a pedestrian (I am a rookie officer but freshly studied traffic code) he is a vetern officer who is very experienced. No, not for purposes of DWI. Keep in mind that DWI is covered by the Texas Penal Code. The Texas Transportation Code is not relevant for DWI.

Driving while intoxicated is covered under Section 49.04 of the Texas Penal Code, which refers to a "motor vehicle". Section 49.01 refers us to Section 32.34(a) for the definition of a "motor vehicle".

Section 32.34(a) of the Texas Penal Code defines "motor vehicle" as "a device in, on, or by which a person or property is or may be transported or drawn on a highway, except a device used exclusively on stationary rails or tracks."

Obviously, an electric wheelchair cannot transport a person on a highway, so it's not a motor vehicle according to the Texas Penal Code.

I have an ankle sprain and I have crutches. Hotel, dinner show and Orlando tickets were bought in advance so I can't cancel. So I will have to rent. But my parents are 72 and 76 years old. Can they push me in the wheelchair? I was never in a wheelchair, will I get tired to roll the wheels myself? If a wheelchair will make my parents too tired, then I should rent a ECV instead. But if it's not necessary, I rather save money and take the wheelchair.

the electronice vehicle is perfect because my step-father is disabled and it's really convenient. i don't think that your parents would mind pushing you but it would be easier for all of you if you get the electronic vehicle. after a while on the manual chair, your shoulder blades start to hurt.
