How to establish a wheelchair or elderly transportation business?

You'll need vans. Then staff that are certified in cpr. Equipment just incase your somewhere where your not near your radio in the van to call for help. Liability insurance, Inspections from the state, etc. The best thing I would do is talk with someone who's in the business and they can give you an idea.

Good Luck.

Transportation for disabled wheelchair users?

Hello guys!
Does anyone know of any transportation services for people with disabilities, such as myself (I'm a wheelchair user) in Pennsylvania (Philadelphia). I know there is ParaTransit, never used it though (I think they charge you and I will need to go to school and back home every day). I have Keystone Mercy Insurance. Maybe there are any other services I don't know about.
Could anyone please suggest something.

Thank you!!!

Any service you use you will have to pay for. Paratransit is government subsidized and will be your least expensive option. All over the road fixed route transportation systems - that means buses - have to be wheelchair accessible. So you should be able to take paratransit to the closest regular bus stop and then take a regular bus. Paratransit is generally available when the nearest bus stop is more than one half mile away.

Need Wheelchair Transportation in NYC Manhattan?

Maybe someone is out there to help me find a way using caps coming around in Manhattan? I will be there from 17.-28 of May.

Just about every bus in New York City has a wheelchair ramp - I've taken my father to his doctor appointments using a bus - it's very easy - the wheelchairs are lifted and strapped in before the other passengers are permitted to board - if you are with a companion, they stand on the platform behind the chair to be lifted onto the bus. New York City buses run frequently and most lines run all night long. (There are a few subway stations with elevators that go from platform to street - 34th Street, Times Square, 49th Street - but, most subway stations don't have elevators.) I wouldn't wait for a taxi to stop for a wheelchair passenger - many of them don't want to take the extra time. If your travel will be confined to Manhattan, try the bus.
New York also has something called Access-A-Ride that is part of the New York City Transit System -these are vans that take you door to door for a $2 fare- a companion can accompany you. They are always late and I don't know if you be certified with so little notice - call them at 877-337-2017.
