Do you need to see a physical therapist before starting to stand in a standing wheelchair?
Walking Proud!

I am paralyzed from the waist down.
I just bought a standing wheelchair.
I do not have any money right now to pay for therapy visits.
Is it required to see a therapist before standing?
Do you have to wear stockings while standing?
Can I duplicate at home, what I would need in therapy, if I even need therapy?

PWD:

Your wasting my time!
If you don't know the answer, then STFU.

I strongly discourage you from using the standing chair at all, if you purchased it without medical supervision unless you use it the first time with the support of a therapist. The first time a chair is used it can be discovered that it needs to be adjusted to work well with your body. You could end up damaging your body badly.

IF and only if you had a therapist help you choose your chair and it has arrived according to measurements provided by a therapist would I CHANCE trying it on my own - BUT only if you had someone there with you.

I STRONGLY suggest you find the money somewhere for at least one more therapy appointment to be sure the chair works properly, fits you well, and you know how to change your weight balance as the chair moves.

Missouri State Senator Chuck Graham.

But in all fairness, I do not think Biden knew the person was wheelchair bound.

and you think Gov. Palin is the Idiot? Quick question What State is the only one with a positive Budget? Still think she is unqualified?

Alaska... I love Palin - she's the best thing that could have happened to McCain's campaign. Biden definitely is an idiot.

Does anyone have the link to Joe Biden asking a wheelchair bound senator to stand up this past week ?

  • Remembering Sparklehorse's Mark Linkous

Mark Linkous, renown and beloved singer/songwriter who released his music under the name Sparklehorse, took his own life this Saturday in Knoxville, Tenn. He was 47 years old.

With Sparklehorse, Linkous created a vivid, beloved alt-rock/alt-country sound adored by his fans for its earnest, yet dark, lyrics. Sparklehorse released its first album in 1995 , releasing three more albums while Linkous produced numerous collaborations. Linkous' latest effort was his work with Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton on the grandiose collaboration  Dark Night of the Soul.

I had the chance to see Linkous perform in 1996, and it's something I'll never forget.

As other artists remember Mark Linkous , I'd like to tell of my own experience seeing Mark perform...

The nightmares were back. Artie Abrams was curled up in the back seat of his mother's van, fast asleep. His uncle had been severely injured in a house fire about three months ago. He'd been a brave firefighter and now he was fighting just to stay alive. His mom said it was a bad year for everybody. The young boy had asked her what that meant and she said he would understand when he got older. She said that a lot of bad things had happened in 2001. Artie just nodded because he'd seen those scary pictures on TV. It wasn't the smoking buildings he saw when he closed his eyes though; it was his uncle. His mother told him that Uncle James needed a machine to help him breath. In his childish innocence,...
