My elderly Mother is in a wheelchair but has an electric scooter too. Which van has the best gas mileage?
Vehicle Lift

The van will have to be suitable to have one of those scooter lifts in the back. We can only afford up to $15K so am not expecting to buy new.

My electric wheelchair won't fit thru the doors at WalMart and they can't transfer me to a scooter- What to do?
Toyota_Mobility_RAV_080520508

Due to my weight, and girth, they can't lift me onto one of those scooters either and my wheelchair is too wide to fit through the doors. How can I go back to shopping at Wal-Mart?

The answer is obvious, but I don't want to embarrass you or sound cruel.

What is the best mini-van to convert to a wheelchair van ?
Rav4

I became disabled following an operation 2 years ago & have very limited ambulation with a walker. I also have a severely handicapped adult step-son who is confined to a wheelchair and is completely non-ambulatory.

I am looking to purchase a good used mini-van to install a wheelchair lift into.

My wife has a friend whose husband has been disabled for many years & he swears that the only van that he is able to scoot off his scooter into is a Toyota Sienna ?

Consumer Reports apparently rates the 2005 Toyota Sienna very highly but Edmunds rates the 2001-2006 Honda Odyssey very highly ?

I have found 2004-2005 models of the above vans with 25,000-35,000 miles on them.

Which van is the best to convert to a wheelchair van ?

Pros & Cons of each van ?

Are there better mini-vans to convert to a wheelchair van ?

many people use Dodge Grand Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country--

you need to have a lowered floor so there is head clearance when you go up the ramp---

  • Why You Should Have a Lift for Scooter and Wheel Chair

Scooters and wheelchairs are a great help for those who struggle physically. They've been such a necessity for thousands of individuals as they offer mobility and independence. Scooters and wheel chairs have taken innovation to the next level-from manual to automatic functions. However, individuals were still having some difficulty. Although scooters and wheelchairs gave users the freedom to travel from one place to another, it was still hard to get into vehicles, over steps and through doorways without anyone else's help. Thankfully, a lift for scooter and wheel chair as been developed to make life much easier.

A lift eliminates what scooter and wheel chair users would have considered an obstacle. No longer will you have to worry about how you're going to get on public transport or be concerned for those who'd have to lift you into the car everyday.
