I'm buying a new build flat. I use a wheelchair and when I reserved the flat I asked for doors with low thresholds to the balcony. Now 2 months later, they say they won't provide accessible doors, and they will build ramps (which will look awfull and I don't think will actually be possible given how narrow the balcony is) but I would have to pay for them.
Legally, do they have any responsibility to provide reasonable access? At the moment I couldn't even use the balcony.
If you are in the U.S.A. get a A.D.A. lawyer he or she will sue that developer because it is the law to have access and you will pay nothing but the lawyer about $5,000. + In California or Florida or New York or Colorado or Hawaii. The Developer will pay your lawyers fees and the fix up for total access under ADA laws plus damages in California for your suffering the only state for damages.
If your in U.K.or Canada or Australia, New Zea land they have the same kind of laws.
If your in India You have to pay because they do not have those laws.
This video will show you how to build a basic accessible ramp. It is a six step construction process: 1) Prepare the Site 2) Frame the Platform ...
It is a solid double ended white line...like an elongated I. it is on the road outside a wheelchair ramp access to a residential house. Is it enforceable?....I ask this question because my neighbours use it as reserved parking and shuffle their three 4 x 4s through it (leave two and line open) ensuring that they can always park all their vehicles outside their house. My dad who is an OAP currently can't even park outside his own house as they have blocked his drive. Can we park on it??
Depending on your state laws concerning the disabled and wheelchair accessibility. If no one in the house is confined to a wheelchair, then it sounds like someone is trying to pull a fast one.
I can see where some states would allow a disabled person confined to a wheelchair special privileges, but I'd think that the state would allow a standard handicap parking sign.
If it is valid, the vehicles parking within those painted lines would be required to have handicap plates or a plaque.
Something doesn't sound right.
Hope this helps. Christopher
what is this road marking and how can it be used?
