I became disabled following an operation 2 years ago & have very limited ambulation with a walker. I also have a severely handicapped adult step-son who is confined to a wheelchair and is completely non-ambulatory.
I am looking to purchase a good used mini-van to install a wheelchair lift into.
My wife has a friend whose husband has been disabled for many years & he swears that the only van that he is able to scoot off his scooter into is a Toyota Sienna ?
Consumer Reports apparently rates the 2005 Toyota Sienna very highly but Edmunds rates the 2001-2006 Honda Odyssey very highly ?
I have found 2004-2005 models of the above vans with 25,000-35,000 miles on them.
Which van is the best to convert to a wheelchair van ?
Pros & Cons of each van ?
Are there better mini-vans to convert to a wheelchair van ?
many people use Dodge Grand Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country--
you need to have a lowered floor so there is head clearance when you go up the ramp---
heres a coupe good resources

a full size van is an alternative
the PT cruiser was even made accessible
many deale5rs now have converted vans in stock
the front seat can swivel--mechanically turn around to transfer from teh wheelchair

Instead of buying 2 (one heavy one and one light one for outings), what are your thoughts about buying just one light one? The wheelchair would be for a sr citizen having difficulties walking. Thanks.
Full-time means different things to different people. Can they manage holding onto furniture at home? Is most of the use going to be inside stores/malls/church, or on even pavement (like parking lots.) Than the lightweight one would be OK.
But if full-time you mean all day long at home and on grass or dirt or rough sidewalks - than no. Lightweight chairs do not provide good support for a person to sit in it more than a few hours at a time and they are not designed for rougher terrains.

Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce is downplaying the way his teammates carried him off the court, and his use of a wheelchair to get to the locker room after he allegedly suffered a knee sprain in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to Pierce, he always uses a wheelchair to get around, and this was no different. “You see guys all the time riding Segways around their houses, and on the streets and stuff. Well, I have my own version of a Segway – a wheelchair.”
During the third quarter of Game 1, Pierce went down in a heap, holding his knee in what appeared to be agonizing pain. He had to be lifted off the floor by teammates and trainers, who carried him over to the bench.
Eventually, Pierce was put into a wheelchair and rolled back to the training room. Just minutes later, he returned, with seemingly no ill effects. Skeptics came out of the woodwork almost immediately, and Pierce has had to defend himself against allegations of exaggerating the seriousness of the injury for dramatic effect.
Pierce continued that campaign by insisting that he regularly uses a wheelchair, and that teammates often carry him around.
“It reduces the chances of some silly injury. And besides, I really don’t like to walk too much,” said the former Kansas Jayhawk. “Before practice, after practice – my teammates are usually nice enough to carry me on and off the court. I take my wheelchair with me from home, and when I drive to practice and games, I just wheel myself into the locker room. From there, four or five guys carry me out to the floor.”
Pierce went so far as to claim that he has been using the wheelchair for about two years as an extra measure to keep him healthy and ready to play. Teammate Kevin Garnett says Pierce is a pro with the wheelchair.
“Oh yeah, he’s got some moves on that thing,” the Big Ticket said. “He can do jumps, wheelies and some other cool tricks. Paul has really mastered that thing.”
hahaha!!!

The lights dim as they do we start to hear the roar of the crowd. There is an exciting buzz in the air. Some where in the front row a kid holding his hand made Jeff hardy sign hoping he see’s it.
He or she hears the music hit and that is when the magic happens .At this moment he is watching his favorite hero battle it out with all he has. This kid doesn’t know or care if wrestling is fake .To this child everything besides what he sees in front of him doesn’t matter.
That my friends, is when true magic of professional wrestling happens, you, or I, or any wrestling fan at one point didn’t know how the world of wrestling worked. It was the simpler times that we cherished and love.
