There are many pressure relieving options. It will depend on the person's level of risk of pressure sores. The best person to advise you would be your local district nurse. (i'm in the UK) They can assess the level of risk. Sheepskins are one option. There are also foam over-mattresses, specialised mattresses, air-flow mattresses etc.
On a personal note, i'm bedridden & in bed 24/7. A sheepskin would not be enough for me. I've already tried. I use a special mattress provided by the district nurse & a foam over-lay on top of that. It does come down to personal preference somewhat so it can be a bit of trial & error.
I wish you all the best & i hope this helps.

I agree with everything Flick recommended, but I would also add that you need to be sure you are taking a high potency vitamin supplement and eating well...no severe or fad diets. The integrity of your skin and the immunity that helps prevent disease are directly related to good nutrition.

I have had about 5 out breaks this year alone and it is doing my head in!! I am fit, healthy, do not have a stressful job (only the pressure I put on myself but it does not come from above ie. management) I eat right (fruit and veg everyday) exercise everyday, I get enough sleep....
I am at my wits end! During outbreaks I dose up on Lysine tablets and I take multivitamins everyday. Is there something else that I should be taking that I do not know about?
During outbreaks I smother it in Zovirak and use Carmex lip balm. I am always careful to wash my hands so as to not re-infect (i've had this virus for like 15 yrs....I know what to do and not do when i have one)
Thanking you in advance.
My husband has had a cold sore that comes and goes for about 50 years. The first advice he got was to scrub the sore until it bled, but apart from being extra painful it did not help. Then he went to a skin specialist who gave him a prescription for some tablets - niacin and they worked but caused prickly hot flushes. When I met him he showed me the prescription and I knew it was vitamin B3 and to avoid the flushes it is better to take Nicotinamide which is the artificial form of that vitamin.
Now he takes one a day and sometimes an extra if he feels that tingling that warns of one starting. If the tingling persists he uses white spirit from the chemist to dab on often and the cold sore never develops fully. Good luck, I hope it works for you too. Vitamin B is water based and should not be harmful. - Pathel
I got this shot last night. It was my third one. The first two hurt a lot but the one I got yesterday caused me to faint. I was fine because I’m used to getting shots. My mom & I were getting in my car and I felt really dizzy. I grabbed my moms arm and passed out, falling backwards, hitting my head on the floor very hard. I then was sent to the emergency room. Got a cat scan, echo, and ekg test and was sent home. My heads still pounding, my neck is really sore, and I fractured my tailbone. My advice about this shot is either A) Don’t get it or B) Wait in the doctors office for up to 15 minutes after getting the shot and make sure they check your blood pressure before you leave.
thats really strange, that shot should be your last one right. b/c i only had three sets and was deimed a "guardasil graduate" but i never had any problems like that. they would always hurt like hell going in and then my arm would be sore for like three days. but never dizzy or light headed in any way. did you take it on an empty stomach or something?, thats really the only thing i can think of. but i hope your okay and if i am right it should have been your last one so you shouldnt have to worry about it anymore.

I read somewhere that Superman’s fall was not brought about by some deadly accident or some kind of a fatal disease but in the end he succumbed to his pressure sores. Yes! I am talking about Christopher Reeves who succumbed to secondary complications caused by these pressure sores, even called bed sores or decubitus ulcers. I am sure now you are looking at this sore thing with a new set of eyes. I am thinking what you are thinking- pressure sores can be serious.

A sore is an injury to skin and tissue resulting from pressure. A normal person is constantly moving around but if for some reason he is rendered immobile, say due to paralysis or is bed ridden due to debility, degeneration or some disease, then sores develop on those areas of skin that come under pressure. Prolonged immobility and infrequent change of position makes the skin susceptible to pressure sores.
