hi i am friends with an elderly lady who has had both legs amputated - she would love a power chair because her arms are now getting tired and sore - she doesn't seem to be getting help from her social worker or ot - her kitchen needs adapted too as she still has cupboards high on the wall which are of no use to her - she had to buy her own stair lift and portable ramp but she just cant afford a power chair - any ideas would be appreciated - i have emailed local councillors but nothing came back
thank you all for your speedy replies the lady in question has bought her own house and i don't know if this has prevented her from getting a grant in the past - any adaptions she has had to pay for and get someone to install it for her - thanks again

You need to badger social services, there are many things they can do to help, also enquire at CAB Citizens advice bureau. This really is a disgrace, she should NOT have to pay for all her own stuff. Does she get invalidity and mobility allowance, I`m sure she could/should. Please let us know on Y/A the outcome, we would all like to know how this pans out. Good luck.
