I am looking for a car that is NOT wheelchair accessible but doesn't use the gas pedal for driving. Help?
Damn curbs.....What happened to the Americans with Disabilities Act?

My ankles have severe arthritis and it is getting more painful to drive. I am looking for a car that only uses the hands to dive. I do not need a wheelchair so having a wheelchair accessible van is too much right now. Does anyone know what car makes make these types of cars? Thanks!

No company makes them but there are a lot of companies that will modify the controls for you. Check with local dealerships for references of shops which can do the conversion for you.

Do you have to use the kick pedal when playing Guitar Hero World Tour drums?
Riding the bike at Next Steps Northwest

I just purchased the game yesterday and was wondering do you absolutely need the kick pedal to play the drums? I am in a wheelchair and cannot physically use the kick pedal but I like playing the drums for the game. Is there a way to turn off the kick pedal?

I looked around online (very sorry for your condition...)

Press Yellow, Green, Red, Blue(4), Red. The bass drum pedal will now be played automatically. Note: Enabling this code will disable earning any money after a song has been completed.

Hang on, let me see where you're actually supposed to enter this. (I have yet to play GH:WT, I only play RB1+2 drums)

Where are people looking for handicap accessible Vehicles?
Wheels

My grandfather recently passed, and my grandma wants to sell his car. He had a prosthetic leg, so he had his car converted. It has the hand gas and brake, but can also be driven by the pedals. It also has a Braun Chair Topper to hold a wheelchair. It's in great condition.

My question is: I want to sell it on E-Bay, and I also want my grandma to get as much as possible for it. Are there websites that I can post the E-Bay link for the auction on to get the most viewers, and reach as many disabled people as possible?

You may also want to contact some handicapped conversion companies in your area, and ask if they'll purchase back your used already-converted vehicle to sell as a used car. (Ask for quotes.) You'll probably have better luck with them than a regular used car or manufacturer dealership. You can find local companies through http://www.nmeda.org/ , the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association. Definitely start with the company that did the original conversion on your modified vehicle.

some other info: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/adap tive/ and their listing of approved vehicle modifiers: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/adap tive/Modifier/Index.cfm (to find area modifiers that may purchase back your vehicle)

You may also want to do a free listing here:

good luck!

  • Pedal powered wheelchair doesn't make sense | DVICE

From a medical standpoint this is actually pretty useful, unless of course you're american and think the world should bow to your every whim.

Here's the deal: people who are immobile are never going to become mobile unless they get moving. Period.

Also, aside from the physical therapy standpoint, for a person who is bed-bound or wheelchair-bound, they have an incredibly high risk of devloping a thrombosis.

What does that mean? Thrombosis means death, stroke, pulmonary edema, or heart attack. This product would help prevent that, assuming that it's actually used.

while you do have a good point (by the way, I resent the comment about Americans because not all of us are that way), the point made above is that people who are wheel-chair bound are in the wheel chair because they have limited or no use of their legs. I do see that this could be helpful, however, in therapy. But in answer to your "people who are immobile are never going to become mobile unless they get moving" while this is technically true, it's actually quite offensive. Yes, people who are immobile can become mobile if they are moved or are moving themselves. However, you are totally ignoring the fact that some people simply cannot use their legs at all. If you were a good doctor, you would have thought of that and mentioned it.
