Paw Paw Wheelchair

I have a 15 year old border collie. she has a hard time getting up from the floor. we have mostly hardwood floor, so i dunno if its slippery or what. and we have to have hardwood floor because someone uses a power wheelchair and carpets get torn up. on carpet, in moms room, shes fine we also have a ramp on out our deck and my mom said she slips when going on it. but i guess she could just take her out front. my mom has just told me this is my decision and i have no idea what to do. she doesnt cry so i dunno if shes in pain or not. would socks help? is it her age or the floor? she never had problems on it when she was younger...and our puppy never slips on it so i dunno. she Has a red sore on her back paw and has arthriritis when she has accidents she refusues to eat or drink.But then she has her good days. We have to use a harness to lift when she does not want to move. wht should i do?

Hi, i look after a elderly collie who has exactly the same problems, its age and the flooring.
I have all laminate flooring downstairs and he has a real job getting up off of it, so i got him a big rug and some comfy blankets, so when Mr snoops comes to stay i lay them out of the way (so i don't fall over them) and he knows to go lay on them. That way its easier for him to get grip when trying to stand, and he doesn't slip or get hurt putting too much effort into getting up.

Your dog should be ok if you give her something to grip.

Accidents are part of the way of life with older animals and arthritis can be helped with medication from the vet.

It is really down to you in the long run , but personally, based on what you've said here, i'd say shes got a few years left.
