If someone is severely disabled and must use a motorized wheelchair, how would that person open a door on his/her own. and if not Is there any product or device that would allow him/her to successfully open a door?
Yes thank you, but the force is not present with all people. I am talking about disabled people with limited range of motion in his/ her arms and wants to open doors on his/her own. "on his/her own" means without any help from magic blue buttons or other humans. thanks if u can help.
Some people keep a metal hanger in their chair for that very purpose. You bend it so it is as long as possible and than you use the hook to grab hold of the door, than you back out your chair. You open the door as wide as possible. Than move the chair forward around the door so the door closes around you and the chair. Than inch your way forward while the chair closes behind you.
No hanger, or no grabbable door handle, and no automatic door - you sit and wait for someone who can help you. That is why automatic doors are not just 'nice' they are essential for many people.

Yes you can i did get stopped for being drunk in public while driving home on my powered wheelchair i dont know about youre state laws in youre state but in arizona the cop just gave me a warning i think he was just checkin to see if i was ok because i was toasted drunk plastered and everything else in between but yea it is possible and my friends were stopped when they where wheeling in there custom made manual wheelchair so be carefull cause they could fine you or arrest you
For a gov’t to descriminate against a handicapped (even temporarily) individual, it would be illegal.
If a walking drunk person is charged with "public intoxication" then so should a wheelchair (motorized or not) bound person.
