He's already been given an enema and stool softeners without any results. I know that there is a position in yoga that assists with this problem. Does anyone know about this? I know most of his issue is due to age and lack of mobility.

The stool softener won't hurt; but, the fiber with adequate hydration (fluid intake) with help the stool bulk and the fluid and stool softener will keep it soft.

Do not casually decide to have your dad start drinking water with sea salt in it. It is irresponsible to suggest that before knowing if the patient is on a salt restricted diet or has kidney disease. You don't want to cure the constipation; but, cause him to have a stroke from his blood pressure spiking or cause renal failure as a result of the strain on the kidneys cause by the salt drawing more moisture into the intestinal tract.

Salt water flushes have been used for centuries. Bleeding of the patients was used for centuries as well. It doesn't mean it was a good idea. A salt water flush is an old fashioned osmotic laxative. Fleet used to market a phospha soda laxative (sodium phosphate in water a.k.a. salt water flush). It could be used as a laxative or also as a flush for people preparing for bowel examinations. Fleet voluntarily pulled from the market as a result of several law suits claiming it caused renal failure in the patients. In Fleet's defense they did provide a warning for those with renal problems and warned to drink lot's of water with it.

Recently I broke my leg and I have received a wheel chair for long range mobility, one probem, I can't steer. Please describe technicues tricks and other things that will help me with my wheel chair problems. GRACIAS ALL OF YOU COOL ANSWERING PEOPLE, YOU GUYS ROCK!

It will take a while to get the hang of it but when you do you wont be worrying any more. Take it slow and remember the different steps the wheelchair done. like how to turn left etc.

Please excuse me if I sound being mean (I'll probably get sum nasty notes after I have done this). I have a friend in a wheelchair who is always putting me down. She never ever has a positive thing to say about me. I am her friend but she only calls me when she wants me to help her (as in push her round) & I have heard other people say she is quite capeable of doing it herself because they ave seen her do it! She is very demanding & I have curvature of the spine & once she got really arshy with me because I was going to see someone in Devon, and 'I didn't tell her'. She had a chair lift on her car for her wheelchair & once it broke she took a long time in telling Mobility because she thought she could get me & others 2 lift it into the boot of her car just b-4 I was due to go away and I did my back in (which was my fault). I once ignored her wen she rang me up she spent all day ringing me, in the end my dad picked up the phone & told er to polietly !"£$% off. Ow can I avoid her?
I'm disabled myself & another friend who's in a wheelchair says she's very rude, especially when she nags other people that they are lazy when they refuse to do her housework when they come round to visit. Also as I don't have a shower she said I could use her, so when I came round she said I had to hoover her carpets first! She's very pessimistic and gets right up my ass! Sorry.

The only way is to be honest, if you are not happy then she is not your friend.

Friends shouldn't be a chore they should be fun.
