on the web, where can I find what medicare will reimburse on a power wheelchair?

there is no set amount. any durable medical company that accept an assignment on a chair must accept what medicare pays. if they provide you with a chair and accept the assignment the chair is yours

Can you really get a power wheelchair without paying any money, like those ads say?

Maybe Medicare or health insurance will pay for a wheel chair, but those things must be way more expensive.

Its only if your medicare or health insurance won't pay/help pay for it, but you can only get one if you qualify for one (basically, if you need one).

Find list of doctors who have prescribed power wheelchairs?

I am looking to find a list of physicians who have prescribed power mobility through Medicare. I would like to know the names of the doctors and how many power chairs they have prescribed. Any help would be great. Thank you!

You cannot find that info on the internet. You have to ask the doctor.

Who do you go to when you can't get any help with Medicare?

I've had problems with my Providers, through Medicare, since June 29, 2006. All I want is to have my power wheelchair work right. I get the run around with the Providers and Medicare is NOT helping. I'm stuck. I don't know who to go to, to get help. As of right now, I'm a prisoner in my own house. I'm using a manual chair that doesn't even fit through the doors in the house. Can't even go outside by myself. Let alone let my 3 year old son go out to play for fear that I can't get to him if something where to happen to him. Is there anyone who can help?

Your physician who wrote the order for the wheelchair may be able to help if the issue is with Medicare. If the supplier of the wheelchair has provided faulty merchandise, call the BBB or maybe the local news station.
There are many senior/disabled advocacy groups out there as well.

No Dental help for people with Medicare, Why?

I have a Gum disease that is caused from Diabetes and I will lose all of my teeth soon. My gums are receding and once in a while my mouth gets infected because of loose teeth and food particles get lodged in places I cant remove with a toothpick or anything. I hear you can die from the poison or infections that these conditions relate to. why can I get a wheelchair for mobility and Medicare could pay for it but in a more severe since I could die or suffer 10 times the pain from the diabetes related gum disease but I cant get the help that I can for just the convenience of an electric powered chair that probably cost more then it would for me to get help with dentures. Do I need to get sick and almost die from dental problems to get help or is Death the only way to deal with this trouble?

The first person obviously doesn't know what medicare is. I'm sorry this is happening to you, but basically the reason you aren't getting covered is that our healthcare is very flawed and that's why there is such a big push to get it reformed. Until then, you can try talking to your doctor to see if there are any loopholes you can get through to get it covered somehow. Even if you do not get covered, you should probably get it treated if you can given the serious consequences you stated.

  • Power Wheelchair Costs Report Sparks Efforts to Educate OIG ...

ARLINGTON, Va. — Response to a recent HHS Office of Inspector General report on power wheelchair costs has escalated into action on the part of the American Association for Homecare and the National Coalition for Assistive Rehabilitation Technology, with a cost analysis and a possible meeting with OIG representatives in the works.

The report acknowledges that there is a service component involved in providing PWCs, "such as assembling and delivering it and educating the beneficiary about its use." But in its findings, the OIG admits, "We did not determine the cost of performing these services or other general supplier business expenses, such as billing, accreditation, staff salaries, or facility maintenance."
