Medical Seat Cushion

A friend of mine is in their 30's and suffers from a problem when they sit, stand or bend, and causes terrible pain in their lower part of the body, where it makes you feel as if you have a UTI, and stabbing pains inside their lower part of the body. TGhey been to a Gyno and Urologist, cannot find anything, but the majority of the problem is from sitting, etc. Most chairs have no middle openings, need something like a toilet bowl seat, where the lower part has an opening, so anyone can suggest any kind of medical equipment, and what this might be? Just give me site names of places that carry what I am looking for. Thanks so much.

I have had a lot of surgeries on the lower portion of my back and I found that sitting on blow up tubes (the ones you use in the pool) were really helpful. If this is a long-term thing where your friend will need it for the rest of their life then I would recommend something a little less eye soaring. Try the website and good luck.

I really need a good desk chair. I do medical transcription on the computer (I work at home) and I've got to find a better chair--my back is killing me from my tailbone to my neck and shoulders. I don't slouch.

I have now what looks like a great chair; high-back and cushioned all the way up, no space between the back and the seat of the chair, arm rests, and wheels. I can adjust the height of the chair, but I feel no better at one height than another.

My neck will fall off if I don't find something better. Even getting up every half hour doesn't work. I'm in good physical shape otherwise. What do you suggest, and where can I get one?

I get low back pain when I drive. I've had a medical workup. Physical therapy, cushions while driving, frequent brakes, and proper body position all help. I still get some back pain, however. I'm taking a job that requires driving 45 minutes to work. Sadly, public transportation is not an option. What is the best car to drive? I'm 6 feet tall. The best car I've driven (for my back) was an old Chevy station wagon with bench seats. The worst was an old Honda Civic. We currently own a Honda CRV - still gives me back pain. Ideas?

The best kind of car would be something with cushy suspension that puts ride quality far above handling. Think "old people cars" , i.e. Buick, Lincoln, Cadillac, etc.

It's called a donut cushion. You can find them at any medical supply store (Norco for example). They are also sold in many pharmacies ( Walgreen's, RiteAid).
