After my wife delivered, she used to have severe backaches due to which we had to buy a temperpedic mattress. can this deducted as a medical expense on my tax return?
Only if a doctor prescribed it. Just as prescription medicines are deductible but non-prescription (over the counter) are not, any medical-related hardware is only deductible if deemed medically necessary. Otherwise, anyone who says they have a bad back could write off one of these beds.
I note that you said 'used to' have severe backaches. Whether the bed helped eliminate them or not is debatable. What is not debatable is that you can't deduct it unless a doctor prescribed it.
Most people never take the medical deduction anyway because their annual expenses never reach the 7.5% of adjusted gross income.

Im having back problems due to my mattress being so hard ,and its getting to the point where im losing sleep over it. i havent slept the full eight hours in months! and my back is always soar,i dont have the money to pay for a new mattress and someone told me if your mattress is affecting your health the Dr. will give you voucher for a temp mattress. how do i get this?
Talk to your doctor, but I don't think you will be able to get a new mattress without some qualifying diagnosis that would require a special mattress. Examples would be paraplegia, bed sores, or severe degenerative disc disease.

Memory foam is a polyurethane foam variant . . not latex. Some memory foam vendors offer mattress configurations which include a latex layer . . research links:

Yes. As long as the cords & electrical sockets/connections are in good working order, there should be no problem.
The only way you may have a huge problem is if the mattress pad cord shorted out, sparked into some free floating 02 from the tank & set off a fire.
The O2 would have to be leaking out or not attached to the patient & the spark right next to it.....
It should be on the patient's face or in the nose & not hanging down on the floor or near ANY electrical outlets....(just to be safe.)
