I am guilty of not keeping it charged all the time~ Could it be my battery is done? where can I purchase one cheaply~ I am self pay. Thanks!

Unused batteries die in a few months depending on age, temps, etc. They are probably dead.

Any 'deep discharge' batteries in the same size category (like N22 or N24) will work. 'Gel Pack' is better than older 'Lead Acid' versions. You need 2 of them.

Skimobiles and other recreational vehicles that don't recharge the batteries as they drive use deep discharge batteries. You can usually get fairly cheap ones at places that sell a good selection- Walmart, for example.

Battery patrol, etc. has OK not great prices- but they will also usually check and install for you for free.

Once you replace them, charge them overnight every day you use the chair, and if the chair is sitting, charge it up every couple weeks overnight- although using for several hours a week is better.

Should infertile women not be allowed to adopt?
IMG_9261.JPG

I'm asking a serious question here. I want a feel for people's opinion (especially regulars on this forum). Really.. because I get the impression that there are many here who seriously feel that people who are infertile should not adopt for one of several reasons

1. Infertility is a sign that you aren't meant to be a mother
2. Infertility is our own fault somehow (at least usually)
3. Infertility makes us so craaazy that we wouldn't be good parents
4. We feel entitled to someone else's child

I'll stop there but I could maybe think of more.

The thing is, if these things are true.. then we probably would NOT be good candidates for being adoptive parents.

Here's why I'm asking this question.
I've been thinking about this alot since the other day last week when I had words with another regular because of her attitude toward infertiles and belief that infertility is usually the person's fault (2nd or 3rd time I'd heard her express that opinion)

Then it "came to me" in Wal-mart last night, and actually made me think about my own way of thinking about strangers.

You notice alot of really big, heavy people in Walmart, riding those little scooter-mechanical wheelchair-whatchamacal'ems? I have.. In fact it SEEMS to me that the majority of people I see riding those things around walmart are pretty big. I am also aware that some people are so big that it causes them to be unable to walk (at least well). I wonder if anyone looks at those people and says to themselves "That person's pathetic.. they got themselves so fat they can't even walk" I may have even for a fleeting moment thought such a thing. But you know what? With my metabolism.. if I was confined (for any reason) to a wheelchair, and unable to really exercise, I'd pack on the pounds too! How the he** do I know that person in walmart wasn't a 120-lb teenager when a drunk driver paralyzed them? Combine the lack of ability to exercise with genetic diabetes 40 years later or something, and you can have someone pretty big, no matter how they eat. But no.. I KNOW we usually look at someone who's big as being big because they don't eat right or exercise. I know.. I was there. At 206 lbs, whenever I complained about my weight, someone was there to shrug and say "just start exercising, and watch what you eat. You'll lose" (yeah right.. been there, done that a million times).

Do you think that's a reasonable analogy to how some people judge infertiles as "pissing away their fertility" by their "poor lifestyle choices"?

When can we stop judging others?

Or is there something really wrong with us infertiles that means we should be ineligible to adopt? If there is I want to know! I don't want to be a sucky parent LOL....
ETA: Lol Jennifer.. Thanks for the sympathy, but I've never PERSONALLY been attacked as being infertile because of my weight, per se. I WAS heavy due to several factors. I am infertile because of a genetic malfunction.

I just get really red when I see OTHER people judging and attacking others (or even judging or attacking a general group of people). And, since I've suffered both infertility and obesity, it did hit a nerve, obviously.

But I've had 12 years to deal with my infertility, I wouldn't consider it a sensitive time or subject for me. LOL..

Loving- I most certainly do NOT judge women who are infertile or believe they shouldn't adopt. I was quoting some things I've seen here.
ETA: loving.. oops... I think I read your answer wrong LOl.. I could have SWORN I saw "how dare YOU judge...etc etc"
ETA: Andraya, fair enough. There ARE people like that out there.. my beef comes when others judge someone without knowing at all the cause of their infertility, or their PCOS, or their obesity.

And I agree, people should have a family while they were young. HUGE age gaps in my family.. would've been nice to actually have some grandparents.

What is often not thought of is that very often obesity begins in childhood.
It is then that the obesity disrupts hormonal balance during or before puberty which can often be the cause of infertility.
I know many women who are obese adults that were not obese during their childhood that have no problems with their fertility.
I also know many women who were obese or overweight during childhood that DO have issues with infertility, including two that lost weight as adults and still have infertility issues.
So who do we blame then for "pissing away" fertility? A child eats what is put in front of them. Do we still hold them accountable for what their "fertile" parents allowed to happen?
I would also like to note that most women, infertile or not, go through a "baby crazy" stages. The difference is that those women who are fertile just go ahead and have a baby.
I would never justify the millions of PAPs who do not care whether they obtain a family thru unethical means or thru whatever means possible. I also would never justify those who only care to have an infant and try to order them like a grocery list :ie. blond blue eyed baby girl, please and thank you.
However I can not tolerate those who judge without knowledge, and justify their judgemental behavior under the guise of adoption reform.

I m searching for some information about wheelchair design.it s my unversity project?

Mechanical efficiency and wheelchair performance during and after spinal cord injury rehabilitation

The purpose of the present study was to investigate whether mechanical efficiency (ME) relates to medical scooters propulsion capacity and wheelchair performance tasks during and after rehabilitation of people with a spinal cord injury (SCI). Eighty participants with a SCI were tested during rehabilitation (3 x) and 1 year after discharge. Two 3-minute submaximal exercise blocks, a maximal medicare power wheelchairs exercise test, and four wheelchair performance tasks were performed. ME, peak power output (PO (peak)), the sum of the performance times of a 15-m sprint and figure-of-eight,...
