I am looking for a manual wheelchair that will break down into parts for transport-please help?

Go online to Invacare.com. While WC's can be broken down it is usually only the arms that come off. My parents brought a WC from invacare that only wears about 15 pounds and my 80 year old mother can easily put it in the car. My 86 year old dad is a rather large man and he has no problem with using this WC. It is still stron enough for him to use eventhough it is lightweight. Invacare also has alot more things that help with disabled people.

How much is it to rent a manual wheelchair for a few days?

I live in Toronto Canada, and am interested in renting a wheelchair for a few days. How much would it cost and also, where should i get it? I dont care if it is used.. Thank you

PS: I'm really cheap, i dont need it to be in good condition. I just need it for a short part in a film, and it does not need to go fat or anything, and it doesnt need to be very durable.

Curt, ask at the hospital, there may be a place that has loners for you to use. That's where I got my wheel chair when I broke my ankle and I had free use of it for over 3 months.

Wheelchair users-- making caster forks tallers with small casters?

Hi,

Here's my dilemma:

I use a manual wheelchair part time for a chronic illness. I'd like to get 26" rear wheels so my arms will need less help pushing, but I'd also like to reduce my front casters down to 4" light up scooter wheels (they are currently 6"). However, I don't want to tip forward too much, and I actually do need the footrests to stay on.

So assuming I only need my current caster assemblies or forks to be about 2" taller (8" from the bend to where the wheel bolts through, total), how do I do that? Should I just use one of the 8" caster forks with a 4" wheel? Would there be any problems with that? Are there any other solutions?

Thanks!
<3

Also a wheelchair user. I have seen this done, just don't know how...lol. I work at a wheelchair company actually. You need to call your local wheelchair company and they will be able to help you.

Is Anyone Dealing With Something Like This At The Moment?

Hi,

I'm 15, and a disabled teen who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. I use crutches to walk when need be, but for the most part I use a manual wheelchair. 'Tis fun being me. For the most part, I enjoy life, but have no idea where I'm headed right now.

Here's what has been going on:

For the past two nights, I've been having weird dreams.

In these dreams, I would be on the outside looking in, while watching myself take seizures, then in the morning I wake up either clutching my covers, or the guardian angel necklace around my neck. Afterward, I get a headache, like the kind I get after having a seizure.

Then, there's problems like with my friends. My friend who is 14. His name is Matt. He's up and he's down. He's attempted suicide, and I seem to be one of the only people who befriend him. He says he loves me, but he's back and forth. We managed to date for two weeks. Our families didn't want it, but we did anyway, so he was my bf at school pretty much because he only came over my house once. At that time, he was bisexual.

On the night of our two week anniversary(we didn't hang due to transportation issues) he told me he was going to a GLBT Club. I was fine with it, I mean, I certainly couldn't stop him. However, a few hours later after getting home, he texts me "I don't love you anymore." "I don't love girls anymore." "I'm gay."

Now, I am still having a hard time grasping/believing that.

I want what's best for this kid. I love him very much, and all he has to say right now, is "I never meant to hurt you." He has a very poor home life and barely an ounce of parental guidance.
He has counseling 3 times a week.

Where do you think these dreams are coming from- like why? How should I deal with my bf? Well, my ex bf now.

-Isabel

give him time. let him get whatever he needs to out of his system

  • How And Where To Buy Wheelchair Parts

For those who have limited mobility, a wheelchair can be indispensable. It will allow them independence both inside and out of their homes, lessening their need to ask assistance of other people.

Wheelchairs come in two basic designs, manual and motorized. The choice of wheelchair will depend on the physical needs of its user, the distinction between a manual wheelchair and a motorized, or power one, is in the source of its propulsion. A manual wheelchair is, as its name suggests, driven by the manual efforts of its user, while a motorized wheelchair is powered by batteries

Whether a wheelchair is manual or motorized, however, it will eventually have to have some of its parts repaired or replaced. Wheelchair parts are not difficult to find; an Internet search will take the purchaser to dozens of websites on which wheelchair parts manufacturers are offering replacement wheelchair parts for purchase.
