Why do electrical wheelchair lifts squeak?
mobile Generationen

Mine is still squeaking.Need help. tried everything.
I tried greasing the folding area. But it squeaks low pitch

Depending on the model and design, it could be the hydraulic piston or motor. Cold weather makes most machines noisier as well.

Grab yourself a can of a good spray lube (I prefer TriFlow) and hit one moving thing. Try it and see if the noise changes. Try again until the noise changes and that is probably the place that needs attention.

By 'noise changes', I mean that the noise will not necessarily go away- it may even get worse for a while, but the change indicates that this is probably where the noise is coming from.

When you find the place, figure out the RIGHT lube for it- the manual should help. Avoid WD40 for the long-term answer- it is designed to do a lot of things, but not be a good long-term lube.

If the noise is rubbing metal, something may be bent or misaligned. Lube helps for the short-term here, but getting it fixed right helps the most.

SCV 2002 Electric wheelchair

SCV's 2002 version of electric wheelchair!! User Kleanorfuzz has been blocked, so there is no need to respond to his comments anymore. Just ...

What would you do if you saw someone in a wheelchair and...?
Good for a rainy day

they were trying to get up a steep hill but for every two feet they went forward, they seemed to go one foot backwards?

**Not electrical wheelchairs, the ones you have to actually push yourself in**
Would your answer change if you were going to meet someone and you were running low on time?

I would approach and ask if they needed help without trying to make them feel embarrassed. I might say, "Let me give you a hand." or, if they were carrying groceries, "Let me help you with those." In my opinion, eliminating the question cuts down on the embarrassment factor. If they don't want your help, they can still refuse it. It's frustrating when esp. older folks refuse help. They want to maintain their pride. I run into this @ the mall all the time. There will always be an opportunity to help. Thank you for your question. It is refreshing to know there is some kindness in a very unkind and selfish culture we live in.

How can I use my electrical equipment from the United States in Russia?

The equipment I use is an air mattress, a wheelchair charger and a respirator.

You will need the appropriate step up or step down transformers. You will need to know the voltages in Russia and the voltages of your equipment. I suspect that would be 120vac for your gear so you will in all likelihood need to step the Russian voltage down from, again I suspect, 220 to 230 vac.

I need info on electric wheelchair repair and operation?

I have a friend who broke his back and needs his wheelchair repaired, I'm pretty good at electrical and electronic repair and have worked on medical equipt. before. I understand motors and operation but am a little weak on controls but I am a quick study.

More info is needed. What type of control system does the chair use, a modern or older chair for example. The electronic circuitry is fairly straight forward, but without more information little can be done. If you can locate my email on this site, write me and I'll try to help. I have 36 years experience in electronic control systems.

design of electric wheelchair using voice and IR control?

I am a student doing b.tech in electrical and electronics.I am planning to do a project on a wheelchair which can be controlled using a joy stick as well as voice for the disabled. If any one can help me with the design ideas and the IC's and programs it will be a great help for me.

Ouch I hope you are up for a real struggle, a stick AND voice is a tall order. You are going to need to start with a DSP chip, I would recommend the TMS320, its a good processor. You are also going to need something for controlling your devices, that means an FPGA, (or a microcontroller of your choice like an ATMEL part). You are going to need a joystick actuator from APEM Components or someone else good, I would recommend the 2V17F1100 but it is expensive.
First thing is to gather your components and collect your wheelchair DC motor data, is it controlled by a word or a voltage? Write your VHDL program so that data comes in from the switch and goes out to the motor control board correctly. Then work on your DSP, you probabily want a look up table with 4 values so your voice can trigger one of the four commands.
again, good luck.
