No. In the fine print of your insurance there are restrictions on what you can take advantage of. You are not supposed to make a profit off their benefits..
Orbit Medical may be able to help you qualify for an electric wheelchair at little to no cost to you if you qualify through your Medicare Insurance.
You can cover this under your home contents policy for accidental damage, theft etc.....Speak to them to arrange the cover - it should not be expensive.
With regards to extended warranty, I suggest you speak to the supplier. Be careful with these types of policy as they tend to be very expensive and provide little cover......I would suggest instead of paying this premium, put the money aside each month instead...this will build up over time, and will help towards the cost of any repairs etc if the wheelchair breaks down.
Good luck
my aunt is terminally ill and her insurance won't approve her and be deliver her durable med. equipment for a long while (a month or more). She may pass before that happens, she has no money and can't even afford her meds. Any ideas or help would be great.
Thanks for reading.
contact the company that sells them, they are used to these situations. I know that medicare/medicade will cover these.
(under the Obama plan not privet insurance)
Don't let it break down !! Because The amendments made by
subsection (a) will take effect on January 1, 2011, and will apply to power-driven wheelchairs furnished on or after that date. Such amendments will not apply to contracts entered into under section 1847 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395w–3) which allows medicaid to pay 80%. The new Bill states that ' pursuant to a bid submitted under such section before October 1, 2010, under sub may be phased in first among the highest cost and highest volume items and services or those items and services that the Secretary determines have the largest savings potential'. Another words, As of Jan.1,2011 if there's a cheaper alternative you will no longer qualify for a ‘‘complex rehabilitative power-driven wheel chair".
So i am in a wheelchair right and my electric wheelchair broke like completely beond fixable and i was supposed to get a new chair anyways but the insurance just needs to approve it and i have this lazy Representative and she wont call the insurance people so i cant get my chair so i am stuck in bed having people do things for me i hate it what do i do she wont answer her phone it would only take a 3 Minuet phone call
Call someone else in the company (like her supervisor) and complain.
Call everyday until the matter is resolved. If you have her e-mail address, e-mail everyday as well. Eventually they'll take care of you just to get you to shut up.
Remember the old saying, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
