You'll need vans. Then staff that are certified in cpr. Equipment just incase your somewhere where your not near your radio in the van to call for help. Liability insurance, Inspections from the state, etc. The best thing I would do is talk with someone who's in the business and they can give you an idea.
Good Luck.

Anyone have any ideas? I care for my elderly inlaws, and their bathroom door is too narrow for their walkers and wheelchairs. I cannot find these aids that are less wide than their existing ones.
Offset door hinges allow the door to open another inch or more, which is sometimes all it takes, and are a simple and cheap solution.
Older homes can be tough to adapt- small doors, bad angles and halls, etc. You often need to get very creative, and sometimes you need to spend a bit.
For example, another option would be a ceiling-mounted track for a patient lift so you could transfer them in a roomier area and it would move them to where you need.
Or, you can use other options to bypass the bathroom- turn a corner of a more accessible room to a bathroom with a commode chair, brushing teeth in the kitchen, and and using bed baths most of the time.

My grandfather is coming to live with us for a while and i want to make things easy for him! And what can i take into consideration with regards to SAFETY when redesigning my house?
Thank You! (**,)
I have grab bars in the bathroom..toilet and shower..seat in the shower, handicap toilet, but a riser works just as well. Ramp into the house, have a carpenter make about a 4 inch platform for a comfortable chair to sit on, to make it easier for him to get in and out of..I also have a lift chair, but they are to expensive for a short time visit..your doors should be OK..one other thing raise the bed with blocks of wood that are about the same size as a brick..helps immensely..no throw rugs..lucky you to have a grandfather...and lucky him for having you..Enjoy your visit..

Eva is 85 and her daughter is 61. They haven't been able to hug one another for years because neither of them can navigate the stairs anymore. I'm looking for a volunteer program in Colorado (Watkins), that can build a ramp for them. Mom (Eva) has several complications and is basically a shut in and the daughter has rheumatoid arthritis and can't get up the steps. Any ideas will be totally appreciated. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays to all of you in Answers land.
Check with the boy scouts, as that could be a merit badge for them

Family Caregiver - for Disabled Elderly, Wheelchair Patients ...
Symptoms of Parkinson's Disease are often mistaken for other diseases, maybe "stroke". The effects on the patient are similar. Stiffness, speech problems, instability and inability to stand or walk unassisted, difficulty feeding himself, incontinence, etc. My Family Caregiver suggestions will be useful for patients with Parkinson's disease or other debilitating diseases and for general physical disabilities. Parkinson's Disease breaks down communication of the brain to the nerve endings that control movement. There is a more technical description, but that's the gist of it. Untreated Parkinson's can be like total paralysis. Even with Parkinson's care, the patient can have symptoms like...
