I have a diy (do it yourself) father who wants to build a wheelchair for my dauschund. I cannot find a sight that gives good direction. I would appreciate any help.
These things have to be properly designed, sized and padded to prevent further injury to the dog. I build a lot of things myself, but I don't recommend trying this on your own.
Try a yahoo search for +dog +wheelchair
and you'll find sites like this one. I haven't used this one, so I'm not recommending it - just showing an example.

Toby was hit by a car. He can't walk on four feet--just two. The mostly paralized back legs are held up by a... homemade device designed and ...
He has a pinched nerve in his back and hip dysplasia and CANNOT walk around...but he wants to..so instead of keeping him bedridden all day I'd like to make him a little wheelchair like the one the dog had in that Norbit movie. I can't afford to buy one so does anyone please know how to make one?
I found several sites that you can look at to get some ideas. One of the sites gives you instructions as to how to make a wheelchair for dogs.
If there is anyone in your family with a creative hand, you might ask for help & ideas as to what you can use & how to put it all together.
I used Yahoo search for 'wheelchairs for dogs' so you might try a few different search engines to see what else you can pull up.

I work in a hospital in the housekeeping department. One of the
patient's that I have been cleaning for told me about his three
year old dog that has no use of it's back legs. Apparently the
dog befriended him a couple of years ago and was fine, but he
believes that someone hit the dog and now Blackie is paralized in
the back legs. The man, Jessie, is a sweet older gentleman
probably in his 80's. He won't put the dog down (I'm happy about
that) he says its the sweetest dog he's ever had. Blackie follows
him out to the mailbox everyday he says. Although it takes him
over 20 minutes to get there Jessie just stops and waits for the
dog to catch up. I am a dog lover myself with many rescued dogs
and it breaks my heart to hear Blackie trying so hard. I would
like to know if anyone knows of anyone or has a wheelchair
available. I want to do something for this sweet man and his dog.
I live about 45 min away from him and havn't been able to get
down there yet, I just heard the story from him yesterday and he
will be in the hospital then rehab for the next couple of weeks.
His wife is currently at home with the animals. I don't have much
money and I researched them online but they start at about $350.
I can't afford that kind of money but I could pay something. His
wife pushes Blackie around in a wheelbarrel but Jessie said that
Blackie likes to be independent and will crawl outside to lay in
the sun. It just breaks my heart and these fine people have no
money but love animals. (they also have chickens and goats and
cats) Thanks so much. I plan to visit them and take video of
blackie. I hope that someone can help me find a chair for
Blackie. thanks again

My dog is going under surgery soon to remove the ruptured disc. He's a 9 pound tinytoypoodle, 4.5 years old. How long will it take for him to fully recover after surgery? Will he be able to #1 #2 just fine? Will I need one of those doggie wheelchairs? Any helpful info plz.
My Shih-Tzu had the surgery too. It's been about 3 months now and he still is shaky when he is walking but he gets around!
What to expect after surgery - therapy! Lots of it. You really need to spend the time. You will be doing probably 90% of his therapy. You will not need a doggie wheelchair if you do your therapy.
We built a ramp for Gizmo to get up and down the stairs outside in order to potty. He runs right up it!
I am glad that we did the surgery and Gizmo is too! Good luck.
my pugs getting old and he cant walk very well anymore. my dad wants to put him down but i dont want to. is there anything like surgery or a doggie wheelchair i can get to prevent this and if so how much will it cost?
you need to think about your dog. if he is having that much trouble getting around then it may be the best thing for him to put him to sleep so he doesn't suffer
