How do people that are confined to a wheelchair prevent pressure sores?

Or is it unavoidable no matter what they do?

they have to get out every day at some point - bathroom (if they aren't bagged) or bathing, and to sleep - I think that amount of movement helps keep these types of sores to a minimun I'd imagine.

What kind of exercise could a person confined to a wheelchair do?

Just wondering.

It really depends on why the person is in a wheelchair. If it is a spinal cord injury, then the level of the injury will affect what movements are available. For example, if the injury was in the lower back area, then the affected body parts would be the base of the spine & the legs, leaving the person with (most likely) good balance & the ability to do many activities from weight lifting, to wheelchair sports like basketball, handball, etc to kayaking with adequate support to maintain position in the boat. If the injury is higher in the back (say chest level or even in the neck), then there may be balance compromises or even involvement (ie some loss of motor control) of the arms & that would affect the choices available. If the person suffers from a muscular disorder that affects strength, then muscle weakness & control would be the limiting factors.

The best idea is to speak to the person & find out what they can, and want, to accomplish. Just like an able body person, just because someone could play basketball, doesn't mean they want to ;o).

what kind of exercises can you do to lose weight in your lower region , if your confined to a wheelchair?

want to lose weigh in my lower legs ,thighs and butt area ,but how do i achieve this if i'm confined to a wheelchair and can't bend my knees ?

If you are parylezed from the legs down. I mean there are probably ways. You could build your upper body, and crunches. But with your legs. I can say maybe for your legs. There are probably ways you can suspend your legs. But ask the doctor maybe for some advice.

Do you think in the near future most people will be confined to a wheelchair due to obesity, and there will be?

And they'll have tubes connected to them that'll inject liquid donuts?

yeah most likely
the only people who will survive are body builders and anorexic models
and thats it
