Is it bad to be active after a massage?
All Smoke

We are getting massages in the morning and want to do yoga or hike or swim afterward. Would that ruin the effects of the massage?
It isn't an option to get it later in the day but we are worried it will ruin the effects of the massage.

No, it won't. As a matter of fact, it will probably make those activities feel much easier on your muscles. The only way you could ruin the effects of the massage would be if you immediately revert to an incorrect posture or bad muscle movement habit which the massage has corrected the effects of in your body.

If you are going to be exercising, make sure you are well hydrated, especially if you are having a massage beforehand. Massage lowers your blood pressure and leaves your muscles dehydrated and it's important to drink extra water under normal circumstances, and doubly so if you are going to be doing physical activity. Drink plenty of water before the massage and after, and continue to drink throughout the day.

Is an under active thyroid a contraindication to massage and why?

Hypothyroidism does come with several cautions. Clients may be prone to osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a contraindication for deep pressure.

There are many other cautions to consider and it would not be sufficient to get answers about pathologies and contraindications through this venue. I would recommend a good pathology text that is written for massage therapists. Here are two good books.

im a massage therapist but would like to be able to wear makeup , the problem is that im so active during the

massage that i sometimes sweat does anyone have any good recommendations on make up that they may use???
IM not interested in looking good for my clients . Wearing make up as most women will agree makes me feel good about myself.

Mineral makeup such as bare essentuals is waterproof and sweat proof. I work out in it and my makeup always stays intact. Try a pencil liner since they tend to have wax (stays on longer) and a waterproof mascara such as Voluminous or Define-A-Lash. Try a lip/cheek stain or plain 'ole chapstick.

Is it bad to give a massage to an active cancer patient?

I am a Registered Nurse, and I have cancer. I heard that also, and I checked with my doctor. If it is a lymphatic cancer, massage shouldn't be given.
There is nothing more soothing than a gentle massage, as long as the patient isn't sick to the stomach.

Who would you like being on the active side of an oily foot massage?

As far as I'm concerned,
it would have to be Tom Welling.
My super-boy toy fantasy.

As we get older, painful, stiff joints, rheumatism and other sign of wear and tear become all too common. There are many ways to minimize the discomfort that the aging process brings. Good nutrition and remaining as active as a possible are as curial as ever, and massage can help reducing pain, alleviating stiffness and retaining mobility. It also increases the blood circulation and gently releasing stiffness and flexibility, it is a good way to help keep active. Many older people suffer from pain and aches brought on by cold damp water. A warm bath using aromatic essential oils such as lavender can comfort, soothe and relax you. Massage stiff joints such as at wrist, knees, ankles, and the hip. If the joint is affected by rheumatoid arthritis, massaging above and below the swollen area can relieve the pain by relaxing the surrounding muscles. Avoid any swollen or inflamed areas. Osteoarthritis comes with aging and usually affects the hips and knees. Massage can help to fulfill the deep-seated need for touch and communication, bringing psychological as well as physiological benefits and contributing to well balance lifestyle. Some expert says that stroking pets can help to lower blood pressure, relieve depression, speed recovery and may reduce the chances of a heart attack and your pet will enjoy it too.
