Who Does Wheelchair Fitting

Answers

how and where does a 'fit' man who uses a wheelchair find a surrogate partner?

The same places as the men who don't use wheel chairs.
There are many women who don't worry about things like that and you shouldn't either.

Does anyone know where I can get a height adjustable desk?

I have a back problem that causes me to need to stand, sit, stand, etc a lot throughout the day, and need to find a desk I can raise and lower. I've only found ones for people who are disabled and those seem to be too big (so they can fit a wheelchair, which I don't need) and to be very expensive. I just need one wide enough for a laptop and whatever papers I'm working with. I'm in the London area, so somewhere near there or via the internet is preferable. Thank you!
Thanks for the quick answers. Stevie t, couldn't find any adjustable desks on that site. Chancer, what's a poofie? And rykker, I tried Ikea's only adjustable desk and it wouldn't hold my laptop steady. Thanks for the help, anyway!
Thanks for the info regarding the chairs. I won't go into details, but I don't need a chair, I need a desk that can be altered. No wall for the shelves, but a brilliant idea. Thanks, everyone.

i know ikea do adjustable tables, but i think they may be a bit fiddley to adjust, maybe you should check them out anyway though, may be a cheap solution

who is more fit to lead?

The ideal president is one who is strong, healthy, and brave. And lately the media has been pointing out all the weaknesses of both presidents in this aspect.

Back during WWII the American public would have never known that FDR suffered with polio. The media never released pictures of him in his wheelchair and never published photos of his bad days. During that time the media and the government didn't want to show that the FDR was suffering because they knew that it was important for the President to seem that he was being strong for his country. And it worked because he was able to elected into office three times in a row. There even was one instance when one President notified the a news group and told them that he was going to bomb a country, and the news of it was never released early.

The President and the media used to work together, and now the President has to hide from the media because all they look for is the imperfections. I know that America does need a President who is going to be able to handle the stress of the job, but honestly do we have to know the exact medical background of a person? What happened to privacy? What happened to the media working with the President instead of being rivals?

And now Obama is undergoing a complete medical exam to prove that he is more fit to lead? Is this a competition of who has the stronger heart beat? Sorry if I'm more concerned of "how" (not what) the president is goint to help America.
*going (pressed the wrong key)
*Wild Horses? That was such a sexiest comment. And I was talking about presidents. Palin isn't even up for consideration to lead right now, McCain is still the running candiate last time I checked.
marnefirstinfantry: Newspapers, magazines, news, etc. That is all media.

US government was created with checks and balances, three branches of government designed to keep the other honest. Somehow or other the media took it upon themselves to become a fourth branch for keeping the whole system honest. Not a bad thing if they weren't profit motivated. The Media cares only for its ratings (read that as advertisement dollars in) and ratings come with sensationalistic reporting. They became predators feeding on the humanity of anyone in the public eye. Not a public personality? No problem, the media would give you your fifteen minutes in exchange for headlines that draw in viewers. It was not supposed to be this way, maybe a fifth branch is becoming necessary. Something to inject common decency back into the mainstream politics and American culture.

What are some good physical exercises for people in wheelchairs?

I have a friend who is in a wheelchair and she was wondering what she could do to keep herself fit and healthy and maintain a good weight. Any suggestion? I really need some ideas.
She can push herself in her chair and everything but she doesn't have any feeling in her legs.

Is it a wheelchair that she can move herself along in ? Some wheelchairs have a ring attached to the wheels so that the person can propel themselves along instead of having someone push them. It is hard work at first (well for 6 months or so) but eventually your arms get really strong and you no longer get into a sweat . You can burn a lot of calories this way. Otherwise if the weather is horrible and she doesn't want to go out she could use a set of dumbells , say two kilo size to begin with and make up a whole range of arm exercises. If she has any mobility of her legs then she should do what ever movements are possible , as it is good to keep circulation going and retain any muscle tone that there is . Obviously a healthy diet and support from her friends will help very much in keeping fit.

Wheelchair fitting - ALS/MND Support Group Forums

I inquired about getting my husband fitted for a wheelchair at our next visit on the 18th of this month, as his legs are about shot and he's tired of falling. I didn't know if they would have time, but they told us to arrive early and they will be able to do it. The clinic response was that we need to do it at that time so that documentation will be on record before the end of the year so the MDA will pay the $2000 towards the purchase. I don't need a chair yet but probably will sometime next year the rate my legs are going, unless I get lucky and plateau (come on, plateau!). Our local MDA rep is super nice and said I don't quality for a full power chair now but they will try to get...
