Is It Difficult To Date In A Wheelchair

Answers

Would you date someone in a wheelchair?

There is this guy, he's very sweet and nice and I wouldnt mind dating him... But the point of dating is to find a match for life and everything.. I cant imagine having to push him everywhere, and doing all the chores that he cant do, and things he cant reach... it might be a very long difficult life... I feel like id want to be with someone stronger than me, someone to take care of me, or each other equally... but this guy deserves a girl ... he really does, he's so nice.. but should it be me? i dont know what to do..

Please .. no rude comments. yahoo answers is here for advice, not people to rudely comment you that your question is retarded.. or that u need a life. i see way too much of that on these poor poeples questions. its like, you get a life.. and stop making fun of poeple online... seriously...

Just truthfully ask yourself; is it out of pity or do you really like him?

Also, keep in mind you aren't going to marry him anytime soon; just go with the flow.

I'm finding it difficult to find love - please help?

I'm a 27 year old single parent father who is finding it difficult to find love. I broke up with my wife after I could no longer suppress my sexuality, shortly after, she committed suicide.

I find it difficult to find dates due to my disability, I am confined to wheelchair and I also have loss my eyesight in my left eye and have 30% sight in my right. As a result, I need a guide dog to help me live a normal life.

I have been on several dates but often they have gone sour as some of them can't tolerate my disabilities, also I have a specific diet (I am lactose intolerant and a vegan) - This has made it difficult to find a restaurant that can accommodate.

I'm a heavy smoker and I think this put off many of my dates. I have a drinking problem as I am a manic depressant, however, I have been attending AA classes which has helped me significantly.

I have a preference for asian men and I am thinking about traveling to Thailand, but I feel I may become disappointed if I don't find love.

I plan to give up smoking, it's going well (I haven't smoked in 3 days!!) do you have any advice for me??

Well, where do i start?

First of all im letting you understand that i realise that your having a pretty difficult time right now having to deal with all of this and your life seems a little messed up.

But why are you worrying about LOVE right now when you have problems to sort out like being a heavy smoker and a drinking problem and so on that isnt going to make your health any worse then it already is. For goodness sakes you have a child where him/her mother has commited suicide and only has you left.

Going to a foreign country for love is a little too far i think there would be plenty of people in your own country rather then resulting in that, Think about your future and your child.

I think you should be focusing on making your life more healthy and happy for you and your childs sake. You should seriously think about spending more time with him/her and focusing on whats most important in your life, and once everything is sorted and life is more on track then perhaps you can start thinking about finding Love and you will probably have better luck at finding it too.

Hope all goes well.
Goodluck.

Why am I having no luck finding a girl to love?.. Is it because I am in a wheelchair or have a disability?

Online dating sucks and doesn't work. All I get are answers from people that live in Russia, Ukraine and the U.S.A. US people are ok, but transportation is the difficult part.

I've never been quite a fan of online dating; it sounds dodgy, and sometimes you don't know if what they say is actually true.

If you have a disability, then it's important to find someone who will accept and respect that. There's no reason why having a disability, no matter what it is, should be a problem when it comes to finding love, and I'm sure there are a lot of girls out there who agree. Just give it some time; I'm absolutely sure that you'll find one.

Good luck!

Calling teenagers with dating experience?

Hi,

I am going to be 16 in a couple of weeks. I am disabled, and require both the use of crutches and a wheelchair. My family doesn't approve of me dating, but here's the situation, tomorrow I am going out with the most amazing boy ever, he too is disabled, and is strictly confined to a wheelchair, and he has a number of other difficult challenging circumstances. Because of this, when he goes out with friends, an aide has to be there with him, but he says that the lady is pretty cool. We're going bowling. It's kinda like a first date for both of us, can someone give me some advice, as to what to say because an adult will be there?

He is probably going to the Homecoming Dance with me, which is in a couple of weeks, and he wants to get to know me better before then.

-Isabel

Wow, this can be a beautiful thing!

Well, you can always ask the aid to just leave you guys alone for a couple of minutes. I don't mean like, leave you completley, just go a couple of meters away...SHOO! :D shoot something like 'hey, do you want to get yourself something from the bar? feel free to, we will be ok for couple of minutes!'

I mean, it's your first date, so you guys probably won't say anything that shouldn't be said around adults.

Here's a tip. Actions show more than words. Smile at him when your eyes meet, then look away quickly. It's a classic sign of feeling <3 compliment him 'I like your shirt!', congratulate when he gets a good score, or give him evil looks if it's a competition >:3

Good luck! <3

How do the home shows do a complete makeover on $2,000?

I need to update my home in several areas. My total budget is $7,000. With hubby in a wheelchair, I want to put down wood/laminate flooring for ease in getting around; tile in the kitchen and baths; update the kitchen cupboards, counters, sink and hardware; and re-do lighting, adding a pendant over the sink, a fan somewhere in the center of the kitchen and removing a boxed in group of fluorescents that date the kitchen.

I also need a new dishwasher, but that can wait if need be.

I'm thinking of putting up beadboard throughout the living room and kitchen, because my house looks like a one-story farmhouse with a semi-open floor plan that makes it difficult to delineate the kitchen/living room area.

I'd like to give it a sort of Florida cottage feel, but not all the shabby chic stuff I see. I'd rather have clean and beachy, although we live inland.

Where do the shows find fancy sinks and counter tops and still come in at $2,000 or there about. The same with flooring. I need a little over 1,000 SF, which includes 10% for errors. This doesn't include kitchen tiling or bathrooms.

I can do some of the work - I'm fairly handy, having laid tile and carpeting, painted and papered, hung ceiling fans and even done some minor plumbing repairs. And I have the name of a good handyman to help.

I know this is long, but I'm hoping some contractor or decorator might be willing to share some ideas.
Thanks for any help and ideas anyone can give me.

If you can source what you need in the way of materials at discount places or pick up 'end of the run' (be sure to check dye lots) you can pick up FABULOUS deals. We put Pergo flooring in all 3 upstairs bedrooms for $0.67/sq.ft., bought a tub with enclosure in the scratch and dent section for just over $100.00 and the list goes on and on. It requires some persistence, lots and lots of phone calls and willingness to wait for some of the deals.
If you have a good handy man that is willing to help, that's half your battle. I have all the materials that I need to do our reno, but hubby wants to do it himself, so it is taking a very long time, because he gets it done when he gets around to it. <sigh> No matter, this way I have an excuse NOT to do house work. LOL

ITF Tennis - Wheelchair Tennis - News Article

French duo Emilie Chene and Sophie Fraioli contested the closest match in the women's singles, their first round contest ending 76 46 76 in favour of Chene, but she posed few problems for 2009 North West Challenge runner-up Louise Hunt. Hunt set up another all-British final against Tarkowski, who dropped just a second set tiebreak in her semifinal against compatriot Debbie Thomas, while Hunt took a 5-0 first set lead in Sunday's final. However, Tarkowski dug deep to secure a 75 64 victory and her biggest success to date, just over seven years since taking up the sport. A late withdrawal left the quad singles with a reduced field of four players and Parfitt and fellow Briton Danny Robbins each...
