This is a question based on true story. I recently saw a movie based on true story of Brook Ellison. Brook Ellison is a woman who has been paralyzed from neck down since 11 and have been living on wheelchair every day.
Despite such terrible obstacles, she went on to graduate from Harvard University and become a great , inspirational person who contributes to society.
She is truly one of the most inspirational people I have seen in my life. Her life truly made me move deeply and not take things for granted.
I pose this Q to everyone to hear what you guys think.
How would you live every day if you were paralyzed from neck down since 11? Meaning, you would need help to move, to take shower, to eat, even in bathroom.
There is no right or wrong answer. I just would like to hear candid, honest answer. Thanks in advance for any insights.
I'd end my life, some would see that as a can do obstacle but to me living that way of life is just not living at all.

I live in a mobile home, I am disabled from M.S. I am in a wheelchair, but no ramp into my home, I do not have finances to build, how can i get help from habitat for humanity?
Go to: "www.habitat.org" That's the International address and look for a listing for your town. Or try just doing a general search for habitat for humanity in_________ (add your town in blank).
You might also try contacting churches in your area. Some very often have programs for helping the handicapped and elderly with needs such as yours for a ramp.

Jennifer and I have really been discussing the remote possibility of moving to floridia because of our health issues. I have Diabetetes, Bi-pollar II plus I also have I.E.D & she has cerebral palsy, depression, Post-tramatic stress disorder & we both have anxiety disorders. Healthwise we feel that it would be better for both of us for jennifer and I too live somewhere away from all the snow, sleet & freeseing rain. Were looking into serves like, section 8 houses, public handicapped Subsidised housing, support & recovery programs, mentle health program, Wheelchair companies, These serves must except mainecare or mediciad part D. This help is needed to gather as much information as possible so that we can make an informed destion. We are a disabled couple looking for any and all information containing servie

I had my leg amputated last year and have been in a manual wheelchair since then. (My prosthesis isn't fitting properly and I am having delays in my insurance coverage to change that.) My finances are very limited.
What are some things I need to know about living in a wheelchair that an average person wouldn't know. Any tips on staying healthy and fit?
Any fun ideas to help make it more joyfull? Any practical tips on getting around and taking things from room to room.
How to stay comfortable. I live in it most of the time.
Thanks in advance for your kind support. :)
luvs, :)
I am an amputee (result of traffic accident.) I don't know where you live so it is hard to give advice on what's available. Swimming is your best bet for keeping fit. A table on wheels that has sides (nothing falls off in transit) Keep bandaging your stump, eventually the swelling will go down. If you can eventually walk, forget the pain and realise the gain! I have been upright for 24yrs now. It took three years for my compo to pay for the accident and my prosthesis, if you need more advice email me. I am in Australia! There is a free limb scheme here.
Ok, so I applied for a job online and my job is to caring for this elderly person. The son tell me that his dad (the patient that I'm gonna take care of) is currently live from a different state (GA) than mine and soon he will come to CA along w/ his 16 yr old grandson because this patient is using a wheelchair. He come to CA is to meet w/ the specialist for just a few weeks. And so the son want to hire me to taking care of him like give him the medicines and so-on. BUT I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE EMAIL MESSAGE SENT TO ME FROM THE SON WHICH SOUND KINDA WEIRD THE PART THAT HE SAID I MAKE THE PAYMENT FOR HIM FOR HIS DAD WHEELCHAIR SO I DECIDED TO ASK FOR YOUR OPINION FROM HERE FIRST.
CAN YOU PLEASE READ THE MESSAGE BELOW AND GIVE ME YOUR OPINION, DO YOU THINK THAT SOMETHING DOESNT SOUND RIGHT?
"I got your mail and it really sounds great. I am very sure that my father will be in safe hands with you. He will be staying at P. T. Apartments and I hope that’s not far from you? I have arranged the wheel chair from the store. I have just finalized with the Wheel Chair store manager about the wheel chair that my dad will be needing while you care for him. The Wheel Chair has been ordered for from a store in GA. As Directed by my dad Doc's for his present state of health. The Wheel is ready for dispatch immediately they receive payment for the purchase via FedEx next day delivery, which you will be taken care of.
I want to inform you on how to make the payment for the wheel chair so it can be delivered before his arrival. I will mail your first week payment together with the cost of wheel chair purchased hopefully next week. As soon as you get the check cashed, you will have to deduct your first week payment and forward the balance to the Wheel Chair store sales representative via western union money transfer (money in minutes), being payment for the Wheel Chair William will be needing while you take care for him. Williams will be having the balance of your service money, because he feels if you care is not alright, he will seek another hand after the first week. Below is the western union payment detail for the store representative:"
MY QUESTION IS, I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THE SON WANT ME TO MAKE THE PAYMENT FOR THE WHEELCHAIR FOR HIM, WHY WOULDN'T HE PAY FOR IT HIMSELF? THE REASON IS B/C I DONT EVEN KNOW THIS PERSON, I APPLIED THE JOB ONLINE. CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINION ABOUT THAT PART B/C I FEEL AS SOMETHING DOESNT SOUND RIGHT B/C I DONT KNOW THAT PERSON SO WHY WOULD I WANT TO MAKE THE PAYMENT FOR HIM, WHAT HAPPEN IF THAT PERSON DIDN'T PAY THE MONEY BACK TO ME. AND BY THE WAY THAT IS NOT PART OF MY JOB. thanks for your opinion!
ADDITIONAL INFO: THE SON SENT ME A MESSAGE FEW DAYS AGO AND ASK FOR MY VERIFICATION INFO: MY FULL NAME, ADDRESS, AND MY DATE OF BIRTH AND I ALREADY PROVIDED. NOW AFTER I READ THE 1ST POSTER POST I FEEL SO WORRY...AFTER I GAVE MY ABOVE INFO TO THE SON I HAVE A VERY WEIRD FEELING...WONDERING WHY THAT PERSON WANT TO KNOW MY ADDRESS AND DOB FOR WHAT, B/C IT IS NOT LIKE HIS DAD (THE PATIENT) WILL BE TAKING CARE AT MY HOUSE BUT INSTEAD I HAVE TO COME TO HIS PLACE TO TAKE CARE OF HIM.
CORRECTION: THAT PERSON DONT ASK FOR MY DOB BUT ALSO CITY, STATE, ZIPCODE.
BE CAREFUL IT IS A FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE WHOLE THING IS A FAKE STORY.
I WANTED TO SELL MY CAR, AND A GUY CAME SAYING SOMETHING STRANGELY SIMILAR.
I GOT SUSPICIOUS AND SEARCHED INFO IN THE NET.
THEY MAKE SOME AGREEMENT, AND ASK YOU TO PAY A LITTLE BIT OF MONEY THAT THEY WILL PAY BACK IMMEDIATELY. THEY DO THIS TO A THOUSAND OF PPL AND SO BECOME VERY RICH.
TRUST ME. DONT GIVE HIM YOUR ADDRESS/PHONE NUMBER/ BANK ACCOUNT, OTHERWISE THEY WILL GO TO SOME BANK, PLAY SOME TRICKS AND TAKE YOUR MONEY.
DONT CALL THEM AND STOP IMMEDIATELY ANY CONTACT WITH THEM.
DONT EXPLAIN WHY BCOS YOU MAY GET TROUBLE.

Wheelchair Curling Blog: Coverage of Paralympic wheelchair curling
We had hoped to do something similar at the Paralympics, but despite approaching every possible source of funding, we were not able to cover accommodation and on-site costs. A couple of offers of accommodation did not materialise, so although we have media accreditation, it doesn't look as though we will be attending Canada's defence of their Paralympic gold medal.
