If religion is bad because it is a crutch, what does that make wheelchairs?

Why do anti-religionists frown upon people in wheelchairs? Everyone is equal, whether they use a crutch, wheelchair, cane, or walker. As a Christian I don't think we should hate people because they allow technology or religion to help them deal with challenges.

Excellent analogy. I totally agree with you. Each of us should be allowed to have something physical or spiritual to help us deal with the difficulties we face in life.

Can anyone help me with Donating Wheelchairs for a good cause?

Hi and Merry Christmas Everyone,

My name is Stephan, and I need your help, there are quite a few people who need wheelchairs or sometimes just a cane or a walker, sometimes just a shower seat, if there is some kind of mobility aid that is taking up space in a closet or a storage shed or in your garage please won't you donate it to a good cause?,I repair and rebuild wheelchairs for people who cannot afford to buy one on their own or
have no insurance, I have never charged anyone a dime for the wheelchair I give them and I never will, I know what it is like to lose mobility as I use a wheelchair myself, as I said there are quite a few people who need either a wheelchair or walker or just a cane, and I want to do my part to help them out, can you Help me to help others in need? Thanks for listening and helping if you can, please visit the Yahoo group Ask Mobility if you can, or just a note to say hello.

Thank you

Stephan, Yahoo Group - Ask Mobility

Great work. There are a lot of options to help you raise money.
You can set up your own fundraising website, among other things.
You already have a group at Yahoo, and you can set up a page and group at http://www.care2.com as well.

Let me know if I can help.

What is the policies for most airlines on handling customers using wheelchairs?

I may be switching from a cane to a walker or a wheelchair someday soon, and I'd really like to know is there a SOP for Airlines on non-ambulatoey devices for dis-abled or senior citizens ?

Each airline has their own policies, which they list on their homepage. For example, United's looks like this:

http://www.united.com/page/article/0,136 0,1040,00.html

and Continental's like this:

http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/con tent/travel/specialneeds/disabilities/de fault.aspx

Depending upon the airline you wish to fly, they will be different. Also different airports have different procedures so you should check the airport website for more info on how they handle non-ambulatory services.

Happy trails!

Do you use walker, cane or wheelchair?

I use a scooter. I can walk short distances, but I have a hard time standing - like in a line. I walk into stores mostly and then use their scooters inside. I keep my own in the car, but I don't have a lift to get it out, so I have to ask for help.

With the scooter I do twice or three times as much as I would do without it. It gives me the freedom to be active without becoming exhausted. Some people think people who use scooters are lazy - an some probably are - but some are able to do more with them - so that hardly makes them lazy.

  • Q. When Should I Get a Cane if I Have Multiple Sclerosis?

    A. Maybe immediately, maybe never. Like everything else surrounding MS, this is a question that is highly individual (and may change on different days or when we are in different moods).

You probably know if you definitely need to get a cane or some other kind of "helper," such as a walker, crutch, scooter or wheelchair.

You probably know if you don't need a cane right now - you don't have any symptoms at the moment that have impacted your balance or leg strength and have really never been too affected by these things.

Then there are lots of people who fall somewhere in the middle. You were fine today, but yesterday your balance was "off." You may have canceled some plans because your foot didn't seem to "work" right. You might still be a little traumatized (and have a residual limp) from a recent relapse that left you unsure of your steadiness.
