Wheelchair Walker

Anyone have any ideas? I care for my elderly inlaws, and their bathroom door is too narrow for their walkers and wheelchairs. I cannot find these aids that are less wide than their existing ones.

Offset door hinges allow the door to open another inch or more, which is sometimes all it takes, and are a simple and cheap solution.

Older homes can be tough to adapt- small doors, bad angles and halls, etc. You often need to get very creative, and sometimes you need to spend a bit.

For example, another option would be a ceiling-mounted track for a patient lift so you could transfer them in a roomier area and it would move them to where you need.

Or, you can use other options to bypass the bathroom- turn a corner of a more accessible room to a bathroom with a commode chair, brushing teeth in the kitchen, and and using bed baths most of the time.

"Ghost Rider" Season 5

A family is building a ramp without experience and this is the way it is, was wanting to know if it is safe or not? 23 inches rise, he used a 4ft W x8ft L 3/4" piece of plywood to make the ramp. That is the ramp that is anchored to the house. There is will be side rails eventually. Mind you this is for an elderly couple . I feel it is not safe , but dangerous , however others in teh family think it is not. HELP? Was wanting to know the actual incline? I do know that a safe one is suppose to be 1" of rise to 12" of run, trying to figure this one out.
they did use some kind of wood to brace it , it is sturdy , no bowing.

NOT SAFE thier needs to be supports under the ply wood such as 2x6 on edge call a contractor

Yes it can cause I have a friend who was like that for about 2 yrs but she got pregnant and decided to start walking and is doing it but thhe docs are watching and monitering her very closely.

Let's say she is intelligent, well spoken, funny, and very attractive, but has some difficulties walking. She is able to take care of herself, but just has some problems getting around without a wheelchair or walker. By the way I'm not disabled or single so this is just a hypothetical question.

sure why not, her mouth isnt hadicapped!

There are many shops selling Hospital equipments near India Silk House, Mount Road, just a few yards from General Post office.
Prices depend upon the make, quality, etc.
