Get Fit! Loose Weight???

Hey!! I've been over weight by like a few stone for a few years now, im loucky i dont look like a complete blob, ive got a good shape on me but i am trying to shift the weight for my new healty living plan!!!
I've joined a gym and have done 5 days this week, each one hour sessions.
I'm looking for some advice on whether this is a good amount to be doind in terms of weight loss and toning up, i really don't want to beef out, no body building or huge muscles, just nice normal-ness for me really.
I do 10 mins on the tread mill. 10 on the bicycle thing. 10 on the air walker thing, 5 mins on the rowing machine, i do the peck deck thing, the pully down bar thing, and some dumbell things for my obliques and bi/triceps, and then about 60-70 sit ups. i would very much like some easy bum exercises. and also, are the ones im already doing ok for weight loss and light toning. any other advice on weight loss please. no yoyo diet tips tho thanks. cheers x

you sound like your off to a good start. you should also try matching your calorie defiency (cutting out calories from your diet) from exercising with your intake...For example if you workout for a hour daily and burn 150 calories you take that 150 calories out of your diet too, that way you have a daily calorie defiecency of 300, which will bring you closer to your ideal weight. nutritiondata.com and caloriesburnedperhour.com are good sights to figure out what foods are healthy nutrition/calorie wise and how much you burn from exercise. Good luck =]

Question regarding strollers and 2 babies 16 months apart...?

OK. I'm pregnant with kiddo number 2. We currently have a 10 month old. We used to have a DuoGlider Graco stroller. It was one with one kid up front and the other kid in the back. It didn't hold up so well mainly because it was so heavy. I could only muster up the strenth to throw it into the truck bed instead of grently placing it there like I should have done.
Now we need another stroller. We are planning on getting a double jogger, but only for neighborhood walks. We'd like another stroller for mall visits, vacations, downtown walks, etc. I'd like one light weight. Our daughter is a good walker, but I am not sure she'll be able to keep up with my pace or be able to walk as long as I need in order to justify a sit and stand stroller.
We need something now that is comfortable. We need one that can accomodate a car seat when the new one comes along with keeping our daughter comfortable.
HELP PLEASE! Ideas? Sorry so long, but I had lots to say!

I have the Duo Glider and absolutely hate it. Check www.tinyride.com and shop by type (double strollers). I like the Maclaren Twin Techno

does it matter where the calories come from?

i count calories always and the fat content, but at times i want to eat a packet of walkers crisp 95kcal so instead of 2 crackers or cereal bar could i have that and not gain weight. Alpen light bars are 60kcal and tasty so is it ok to vary your intake of food and have low calorie foods like popcorn 38kcal, jelly sugar free hartleys less than 10kcal.
oh yes i am obsessed with food but don't want to go back not to eating.

It does but you don't have to be perfectly counting every single calorie. I mean what the hell is "38 calories" for popcorn anyway? What fool said it was /exactly/ 38 calories? It really varies, I always round up those weird numbers (38 = 40). It's perfectly fine to eat a bag of crisps instead of instead of crackers or light bars. Your body is probably used to processing the cerealbars/crackers, so some crips will be a nice little shock for it to handle. When you keep eating the same foods over and over again, that's one of those things that makes people gain weight, especially when it's junkfood with no nutrition. But seriously, one bag of crisps instead of a cereal bar won't make you fat at all :) It's when you eat 9 a day you should start worrying.

My own weight loss diet, not the best in the world, but should do the trick for me, what do you th?

Okay so I was thinking

In the morning when I wake up do half hour on the cross-trainer as it is the only piece of fitness equipment I like and would do first thing in the morning as I don’t usually have time the rest of the day, please dont suggest weights etc. as I just don’t want to do all that.

For breakfast I would have a bowl of cheerio’s and a tall glass of orange juice which is about 270 calories.

A pack of Walkers baked crisps in the day like in college which is 99 calories and pretty healthy ish lmao.

A weight watchers meal for dinner as I think they taste lush and they are healthy and they average 300 calories, well the ones I like to eat do anyway and I was also guna have a Muller rice as they are lush and pretty low in fat and high protein and that’s about 220 calories.

And I know your not suppose to eat in the evening but tough its better than feeling horrible and craving food which will prob lead me to eating my fridge, I was thinking 2 crumpets with tiny amount of light butter and a bit of jam which is about 160 calories and low.

Also in the morning I take cod liver oil and multi-vitamin supplements just to boost up and stuff.

So on average im on about 1100-1200 calories according on how many cups of tea I have with skimmed milk and sweeteners as I loveee tea and a few glasses of pepsi max as its low with like 2 calories a glass and nice.

Right now this is not the worlds best diet packed with every fruit and veg in the world but I think it would suit me, it has a fair amount of protein in it, pretty low in fat and im on a decent amount of calories and doing my half hour of exercise in the morning and my main goal is to lose weight!
Weirdly enough I know a lot about nutrition and dieting ect but I think you should also think about what makes you feel good and happy and not feeling like your actually on a depressing diet.

Right so I am an 18 year old 5 foot 2 female and at this moment in time im 9stone 6, I use to be 8 stone and healthy but things happened I felt crappy I ate I shot up a stone and a half meaning all my clothes don’t fit and my confidence has shot right out the window, now I want to get down to my 8stone size again as I know that’s when im happiest and confident even though the size I am now is fine and normal I still feel better as my old one and want it back!

Now basically Im thinking when I lose all my weight I stick to what I said up there in my diet but then add the stupid amounts of fruit and veg to maintain my weight and stay healthy as that’s practically what I did before on a normal day to day basis and I wasn’t even on a diet I just was normal :D

Now there we go what do you think?
Thanks x

Diets like these are o.k for a short time but not months. There is no fruit or veg in there or meat, eggs, seeds, etc. If you ate a little of those foods, you wouldn't need extra supplements. In fact this diet is totally unhealthy.

You keep going on about everything is low fat, that is not the problem. It maybe low fat, but all those things you are eating are full of sugar and salt, two of the worse things you can put in your body. The Weight Watchers meal is probably the worse for salt and sugar. The Muller rice, again, will be full of sugar.

You would be far better doing your exercise in the early evening to burn off what you have eaten rather than do it in the morning.

And it doesn't appear that you drink water. You must have lots of water for clear skin, bright eyes and feeling of well-being. Tea is not water because of the caffeine and tanning in it, same as the coke.

not losing weight - what am i doing wrong?

ok i eat healthy - well i think it is a typical day i have :-

2 weetbix with skimmed milk
1 cup of tea 1/4 teaspoon of sugar

mid morning - banana

lunch - a salad with light salad crem or a fruit salad -3 pieces of fruit

mid after - cup of green tea
snack - hand full of japanese rice crackers - or walkers lite pkt crisps

dinner - plate of steamed veg - with either fish fingers - or a quorn burger

a cup of green tea

drink bout 1 litre of water

excercise - 3 x 30mins fast walking everyday - and 2 x 1 hours aerobic classes a week.

i've been doing for 3 weeks and haven't lose a pound.(i'm 5ft and weight 9 stones and 6Ibs)

any seriuos suggestions would be grateful

I would say you're doing everything right....just give it a little longer!

3 weeks isn't long to see results. With exercise, they always say you start to see good results after 6 weeks.

You must be feeling good inside though - and that will shine through in your skin.... keep up the good work!
