Gavin has a good idea.

Once you do get started, you also might want to go to all the non-profit organizations that serve the handicapped people, in homes, elderly homes, and other businesses that serve them and offer your services as well. This could be a very good business for you. You are right not very many people do this. You could also look into doing it mobile as well. On the spot type jobs. Build your reputation this way as well.

To be cost efficient, I'd suggest running it out of your home as a home based business. Cut down the cost of having to rent a shop and the money that goes along with it. This way your phone, computer and everything else involved with your business are all tax write off's. You won't have as much overhead this way.

Cost of taking a "power" wheel chair to Brasil?

I have heard from a person that lives near me and she told me that it did not cost anything for her to take her "power" chair; she was traveling in "continental" USA. She rode the chair up to the plane and they took "power" chair and loaded it underneath in cargo. Is this a "true" statement?

most major airlines allow you to check the item free of charge in addition to your regular checked baggage allowance. just make sure to call the airline a few days before you travel to make sure that they knwo you're coming. you will probably have to check the powered chair, but the airport will provide someone with a wheel chair to take you to your plane if you need it.

I was watching the news yesterday, when a story about power wheelchairs came on. Apparently, Senator Claire McCaskill is proposing the dropping of Medicare funding of electric wheelchairs to the disabled. Hmmm! Really? Now, I have been having PTH and mobility problems for nigh on a year. I have been pondering getting one of these things, because it is difficult for me walk any significant distance and makes taking a vacation or just plain going anywhere a process. My biggest hinderance has been, don't laugh, my male pride. I generally walk with a cane or crutch. Since my Parathyroidectomy, the pain has decreased to tolerable levels, but I still can't walk any significant distances. I realized...
