What the laws for riding/driving a gas power scooter in California?

I do have a drivers liscense and im think about getting the gas powered scooter to ride to my friends houses during the summer and to school instead of driving my car.

What laws are different and what should i know before doing this?

If you mean a motorscooter, which is like a motorcycle, then you need a motorcycle license. You will ride in the lane like a car, not in the bike lane. You need insurance for most models. You can download the DMV motorcycle handbook for the laws, which are too numerous to list here (as it would be with a car).

and what about the motor? do they last long? I don't want to spend lot of money and after few month only to find out motor is not running or any motorized problems etc...what is good brand, model and where can i buy good, reliable gas powered scooter?

I own a new Four Stroke 49cc scooter I am happy with its speed of 37 to 40 mph but it's very poor in power when getting onto the road in town. I wanted to know if there is any adjustment I could do to the carb or any other part to get a bit more of a boost in acceleration?

The best bet is to trade up to a 250 Ninja.

I have a 15 year old scooter. It works fine as of now.

I do not want to scrap it. The mileage I receive right now after tuning of engine is around 35-38 km pl against daily drive of approx 50 kms with pillion.

I feel a sluggishness in the power region and would like to improve it . What changes can be done to block piston to improve power.

only thing you can do is
1.replace new piston rings
2.carburetor air flow
3,chain sprocket modification
4.use hp power petrol

i am having problems keeping the gas flowing while its running.

Gravity from the tank to the carb.
Ck filter, Ck gas line blow backwards, then ck flote needle and seat & make sure you don't have trash it the tank.
