i am trying to take a weed eater and turn it into a motorized scooter. i have an old electric scooter that has nothing inside it all i have is a frame and the wires that i tore out. i took the shaft off and the piece of plastic that holds it on off. but the metal thing that spins under the plastic stops when i touch it, what should i do? i dont have a lot of money to spend on this scooter so i need to use the parts that are already there. please draw a diagram of what you want me to do if you can.
thanks
How the heck are you suposed to make a scooter out of a weed cutter? It doesn't sound that practical. You should just buy an electric scooter, you can find them at Toys R Us. But there are different sizes, different speeds. It also depends on the store. Some stores dont stock electric or motorized scooters that go more than 15 m.p.h. Some stores stock scooters that go up to 30 m.p.h.! But, anyways, I would suggest buying one, because not everything can be done by yourself.(No offence if you are a pro at it) The medical bill will cost more than a scooter if you are injured trying to make your own scooter.
This is probably why he is in a wheelchair in the first place with antics like this!
Does anyone know where I can buy a motorized scooter (like a Vespa, but not Vespa) in Orange County, California for less than $1000. These gas prices are killing me!
Good luck. Too many people share the same problem and so the price of scooters are shooting through the roof and the availability is getting tougher.

I'm looking for a scooter to use during the summer months going from home to work and around town. I'd like for it to be big enough to take on some major roads. I'd also like it to be pretty cheap. What are some good makes and models I should look at? They can be used too.
Get a motorcycle! I have a 1980 Yamaha SR 500 that is rated out of the factory at +60 mpg (as well as a large cult following). Granted it's not a 125 mpg kinda scooter, but it's a real live motorcycle! With the bike's age and my riding style mileage may drop to somewhere around +50, but it's still a bike and the mpg is still pretty good. I comfortably reach cruising speeds up to 75 mph, though not for long, extended periods.
The determining factor will be how much you want to spend. I purchased mine for $300 from a friend. I almost felt guilty as it could have sold for up to $1800. Imports are going to be cheaper for the most part as Harley's are over priced. Look around, deals are all around you! Try your local Craig's List, eBay Motors, Cycle Trader, and your local paper. A great option is to ask your local motorcycle shop; these guys know lots of people that own way too many bikes!
Join the club, learn to ride.

I mean in America and yes they are motorized. Sometimes you find them in malls because some mall security guards ride them around.
In Illinois the term 'Truckster' is used for 3 wheeled light commercial or utility vehicles. this covers the old Harley trikes, Cushman 3 wheelers. The fine print in the term was a 'truckster' was not a 'motorcycle' and the rider didn't need a motorcycle endorsement or motorcycle helmet to drive it. This meant police and city employees in parking patrol scooters didn't have to get tested and licensed for motorcycles and old riot helmets were legal to wear.
Hello, I will be taking the MSF course for scooters and I would just like to know the basic controls and skills to prepare me in advance so I would have a better understanding in the class.
What are the controls on a scooter? Twist the right hand handle for the throttle? Where's the brake? Etc, etc.
What should I know when riding a scooter?
Thanks for the help!
Good for you! You are very wise to take the MSF scooter course. They will get you riding smart and safe in no time. I LOVE my 650cc scooter and enjoy it just as much as my big 1,200cc touring bike. I believe you'll enjoy learning to ride too.
Left hand is rear brake. Right hand is gas and front brake.
Sometimes people call the rear brake the regular or riding brake and the front brake the emergency stopping brake.
Up to 20 miles per hour (or so), you turn the bars in the direction you want the bike to turn = turn right, go right.
Over 20 miles per hour you counter steer = turn left, go right (it has to do with gyroscopic force).
Scooters are so light that you can also steer just by moving your feet (you are actually still counter steering, but it all works better when you add just a little lean). Pivot on your heals and point your toes right, you'll go right.
Look where you want to go. As you enter curves, look for the vanishing point, the place where the road disappears from view. This will help you ride smoothly and see into the future (a few seconds) and keep you safe.

I believe you will be much MUCH safer on a larger scooter--at least a 125cc or 250cc bike. Why? The bigger scooters are just as easy to handle and can keep up with traffic so you don't have 2,000 pound dinosaurs screaming past your left elbow all day. A 250cc is large enough for one person to go on the highway. My 650cc can take two people on the highway or up a mountain with ease.
Also, get a rain suit and wear a helmet! Scooter riders are REAL bikers because for many of them, the scooter is their ONLY means of transportation. That means they are out in colder, hotter, wetter weather than other bikers. It was raining this morning, and I rode my maxi-scooter to work. I didn't see a single crotch rocket, cruiser or touring bike the whole way! That's going to be YOU soon.
