I realise Prague has an abundance of cobbles but I may need to hire a Mobility Scooter for my father-in -law. Help!
1) I found these places that hire mobility equipment
This is only place with actual scooter..others hire just chairs. It is ' skutr Cityliner 410 - čtyřkolový

Only manual chairs but this is national charity for the paraplegic, and can give information in general on accessibility in Prague http://www.paraple.cz/Default.aspx?tabid =80
All these sites are only in Czech ..but all have contact and email.. And I'm sure someone would be able to understand English..
Here are a few words to help you understand the site.
PLUJCOVNA = RENTAL, POMOCEK = AID (disability aid)
ELEKTRICKY SKUTR = MOBILITY SCOOTER
ELEKTRICKY VOZIK = ELECTRIC WHEEL CHAIR
MECHANICKY VOZIK = MANUAL WHEEL CHAIR
CENA = PRICE , DEN = DAY, MESIC =MONTH
KONTATKY = CONTACT
1 euro = roughly 28 kronas
2)I personally think a wheel chair would be easier if possible.. A scooter might be a little difficult to travel around on..
However here are some informations that I hope you will find helpful.

76-year old escapes prosecution in tragic accident case
A 76-year old mobility scooter driver has avoided being prosecuted over the death of a 90-year old woman he knocked down and seriously injured with his scooter after it emerged that mobility scooter users are exempt from laws covering careless or dangerous driving.
This particular accident happened in a town on the Isle of Wight. As the 76-year old male drove his scooter along the pavement he apparently collided with the 90-year old woman, severely injuring her legs. Tragically the woman died a few days later in hospital on the island.
According to coverage of the incident on the Telegraph website, Police officers had originally hoped to bring charges of careless or dangerous driving against the man under the Road Traffic Act. However it was later found that drivers of mobility scooters are exempt from prosecution for either careless or dangerous driving. Other more unusual charges had been considered but in the end the District Crown Prosecutor for the Isle of Wight decided there was insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction.
