Mobility Products

I have a hypothesis. The desire to purchase products for assisted mobility devices goes down as ALS in a patient progresses. I was wondering how you all felt?

Sometime it can be denial, that if they accept the devices, it is resignation to the disease. that they are admitting that it will progress further.

Or it could be that they have resigned themselves and think, "why bother".

My mother died of ALS and was against getting devices for a while because she was in denial. She only gave in to help out my Dad who was taking care of her.

ALS also effects the emotions and who knows what that effect has on decision-making.

I have very curly hair and the hair near my scalp is frizzy and wild, what product should I use to get my hair to have mobility and be super straight and silky without being stiff and thick feeling? I am trying to go for a light and bouncy look, without having to use thinning shears to thin out my hair.

I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY reccommend using Karastase products! This is a product line made in France by professional cosmetologist. My sister is a cosmetologist and works at a high-class salon. She uses this line of products, and would never use anything else. I use the Oleo Relax Anti Frizz Spray, and it is amazing. I have naturally curly hair as well, and this makes my hair shiny, but NOT greasy (which I hate) The important thing to remember is to not use too much...I dime size or less will do fine. These products are a little on the expensive side, but because you only use a tiny bit a day, they will last for a very long time!

One more product I reccommend is Bumble and Bumble hair products. They work just as good, and I love both Karastase and Bumble and Bumble. I am a mature student studying product design and am calling upon your advice. I worked as a mobility enginner before returning to education and through my travels have found that there is a huge lack of design surrounding disability aids. I would like to hear from you regarding your views on modern mobility product design, particularly multi-disability products. Do you own any disability products (stairlifts, hoists, hearing aides, etc)? do you struggle to use them? Do you think much design has been considered?

ruth10uk2003, I totally agree with you, the hoist slings were very confusing for us to demonstrate when I used to install the systems. http://www.guldmann.com were a god company for their hoist related products and support, take a look on their website. Maybe a sling should be produced that has colour-coded tabs to align the correct holes with their hooks?
