electric wheelchairs???
~ New Smart Car Spied ~

ok, so one day I was walking with my friend at school and it was raining so we were kinda under the roof. all these electric wheelchairs had to get on the bus. the guy pushing it said"oh sht we have to run" so it was funny cause the person had to run pushing the electric wheelchair and the person in it was drooling and laughing. so my question is, when it rains, can water get caught in the battery of the electric wheelchair and electricute the person?????????

It's unlikely that they'd have the batteries configured for a high enough voltage to electrocute someone. However, the batteries hold high amounts of current and if there were a short circuit, that high current could potentially cause a fire. That would be bad for someone who couldn't get out of the way very fast -- like someone in an electric wheelchair.

I think those electric wheelchairs would make good commuting transport?
Used Pride Victory Scooter

They have a range of about 30km. They could be charged up during the day at work. If powered by nuclear, solar, or hydro power there would be a great reduction in greenhouse gas as freeway fulls of cars would not be needed on the daily commute. I realise they would need minor adaptions for weather. What do others think?

It actually could work.I see a lot of segways in downtown Albuquerque and in the Shopping Malls as well. Since the Southwest is a dry climate generally,I couldn't see how it wouldn't work,to be able to go 5 times faster than the average pedestrian.

Are you allowed to ride the electric wheelchairs at stores?
Used Invacare Pronto M51 Electric Wheelchair

Like if you are just normal and say you have leg problems would they let you? Have you ever rode one?

my boyfriend did, there was like 20 motorized carts and my boyfriend pretended to hobble over to one and had the best time ever.

Where can I find online to look at electric wheelchairs that can be operated by using your head?
(Untitled)

I presently have one but need a new one. I steer it with the back and side of my head. I can only use my head b/c I have no limbs. I want to stay away from chin and air tube operated chairs. Thanks!

any new manufacture can custom make nearly anything
that is amazing you can type with no limbs

Do They Make a Convertible Manual To Electric Wheelchairs?
Accy

I NEED A ELECTRIC CHAIR THAT WHEN THE POWER GOES I COULD USE IT LIKE A MANUAL WHEELCHAIR

Most electric wheelchairs have a switch to make them manual. They just aren't necessarily easy to push. There are also separate motor-systems you can attach to almost any manual wheelchair to make them electric. Some are almost as good as a normal electric wheelchair for indoor use.

  • Fausta's Blog » Blog Archive » Cash for clunkers, cash for…golf carts?

The federal credit provides from $4,200 to $5,500 for the purchase of an electric vehicle, and when it is combined with similar incentive plans in many states the tax credits can pay for nearly the entire cost of a golf cart. Even in states that don’t have their own tax rebate plans, the federal credit is generous enough to pay for half or even two-thirds of the average sticker price of a cart, which is typically in the range of $8,000 to $10,000. “The purchase of some models could be absolutely free,” Roger Gaddis of Ada Electric Cars in Oklahoma said earlier this year. “Is that about the coolest thing you’ve ever heard?”

This golf-cart fiasco perfectly illustrates tax policy in the age of Obama, when politicians dole out credits and loopholes for everything from plug-in cars to fuel efficient appliances, home insulation and vitamins. Democrats then insist that to pay for these absurdities they have no choice but to raise tax rates on other things—like work and investment—that aren’t politically in vogue. If this keeps up, it’ll soon make more sense to retire and play golf than work for living.
